[Valentine’s Day]
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur is all set to celebrate love this Valentine’s Day at Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill while Level 32 will be specially setup for the romantic occasion.
Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill has created a special ‘love-inspired’ menu for this love celebration. It is a 6-course carefully planned menu, priced at RM488 nett per couple inclusive of a glass of bubbly for each person and a rose for the lady. There will also be a 2-piece live band to serenade diners with some romantic numbers, while the tables will all be setup with rose petals to add to the ambience.

Warming Heart

caviar, lemon essence, gazpacho vodka shots
Eat this from right to left. With three different textures to start off the meal. Absolutely loved the caviar with the quail egg. This was an amazing appetizer that was a preview of the rest of the dishes to follow.
How Love Feels
Seafood Mosaic
marinated scallop, shrimps, smoked salmon, crab, avocado salad, cilantro dressing
This was a very hearty appetizer indeed with four (4) different types of seafood that was so sweet and juicy that it really didn’t need any accompanying dressing to go with it. My favourite was the beautifully seared scallop of course!

An Insta-worthy appetizer if shot from the top down. Try not to get any shadows (unfortunately I was under a down light hence the bit of shadow in the first pic) in the pic. The primary reason you’re bringing a girl out for a Valentine’s Day dinner is of course so that the both of you can have some lovely memories together, however if it’s a nice romantic venue with pretty food you can bet that she will post some updates on social media about what a great boyfriend you are bringing her out for a nice dinner! (Great ego boost and I’ll bet that you’ll get your reward later in the night…)

Roma Tomato Soup

Rich and lovely with even more richness coming from the mascarpone cheese! A very heartwarming soup but make sure you leave some space for the main that will follow this dish and if you have to sacrifice some of the lovely soup to ensure that you can fully enjoy the main.

Beef Rossini
black angus tenderloin, foie gras, colcannon potatoes, spinach, asparagus, périgord sauce
Foie gras! Yes! One of my favourite ingredients and this one was cooked to perfection! Make sure that you order your beef medium rare…or medium if you really can’t stand the sight of pink beef. Any more cooked and you’ll be wasting a beautiful cut of beef. Just look at the size of the steak! Fit for a large eater!

Rack of Lamb with Garlic and Herbs

I asked for my lamb to be medium rare as well (yes lamb, like beef, can be medium rare) and it came out a lovely pink. It was tender and flavourful and I must say that the chef really knows how to grill lamb as it was so gratifying that I really wished there was more even though I was pretty full by the time I conquered this main. In fact if you’re a red meat eater I’d suggest you go for the lamb instead of the beef.

Raspberry Petit Gateau
raspberry mousse, chocolate lollipop, chocolate ganache
A dessert to share and this one had a special and delighful surprise inside the lollipop that would surely transport you back to your childhood days so don’t swallow the chocolate lollipop immediately! Put it in your mouth and suck it as you would a real lollipop and in a few seconds you’ll get the surprise! This was another Insta-worthy dish!

As the set dinner only comes with two (2) glasses of bubbly, you can also order some wine or drinks to go with your meal. We decided to have red wine as our mains were both red meat.


Up on Level 32, there are limited tables available for a 4-course menu accompanied by 2 glasses of champagne and endless supply of wine, where you get to dine in romantic ambience with an amazing view of the lighted Petronas Twin Towers and KL skyline. ‘Eat Me @ Level 32’ is priced at RM500 nett per couple.
