Evonne and I headed over to Lot 10 in Kuala Lumpur on 26 October 2016 for the VIP/ media launch of ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur. The store is in collaboration with Cool Japan Fund, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings and opened to public on Thursday, 27 October 2016. The new specialty store has approximately 11,000 square meters of retail space and aims to deliver Japanese lifestyles and aesthetics to customers outside Japan. The store also incorporates Japanese history, culture, technology, diversity and even lifestyle designs.
All of the shops on the six (6) floors feature high-quality product lineups from Japan and its regions with over 200 brands being on display and for sale.
Here’s a look at the floors:
● GF THE MUSEUM – Experience the ultimate Japan
This floor expresses Japan’s rich diversity, including fashion, art and technology.
● 1F THE STUDIO – Experience fashion live
This floor conveys fashion culture and arranges an information transmission space for fashion people from ASEAN countries.
● 2F THE ROOM – Experience grateful lifestyle
This floor conveys beautiful, healthy Japanese lifestyles and ways of living through a lifestyle-shop presentation.
● 3F THE CUBE – Experience an inspiring culture
On this floor, in the three zones of “feel,” “know,” and “create,” visitors can experience Japanese culture that exhilarates both the mind and the body.
● 4F THE TABLE – Experience premium dining (scheduled to open in January 2017)
To deliver the taste of washoku, this floor will bring together around six famous restaurants to serve foods such as general Japanese cuisine, sushi, yakitori, tonkatsu and yakiniku.
● LGF THE MARKET – Experience seasonal flavors
This floor offers authentic Japanese flavors that convey the changing four seasons whose beauty is expressed in haiku, as well as new styles of food utilizing technology.
Paul Noritaka Tange, president of TANGE ASSOCIATES, and Yasumichi Morita, president and representative director of GLAMOROUS co., ltd., who both worked on store environment design in the redevelopment of the Isetan Shinjuku main store, were in charge of the store planning and design. The store design is different from the normal departmental store design and is the first of its kind for an overseas store, with a pavilion on each floor to make the entire floor resemble a Japanese circuit-style garden.
