Headed over to Chili’s in Bangsar Shopping Centre recently to try out the new Chili’s Top Shelf Tacos which are a limited time offering from my favourite a Tex-Mex restaurant, which serves up Southwestern-inspired and classic American flavours, with a hint of Mexican dishes thrown in the mix.
Chili’s has always been my go to place when it comes to a hearty American meal. I can count on the portions to always satiate my appetite, and although through the years my purpose of having a meal at Chili’s has somewhat changed from going to celebrate special occasions with my friends during my college days, to becoming a regular dining option and even a place where I can have happy hour with my buddies.
Can’t decide which starter/ appetiser to have? Why not have them all? This has been my all time must order dish when I visit Chili’s as I get to combine my three (3) favourite appetisers which are served with fresh celery sticks and dipping sauces.
This time round we chose:
Chicken Crispers® (Ala carte price: RM27.95)
Spiced Breaded Onion Rings (Ala carte price: RM12.95) – Crispy breaded onion rings dusted with Southwestern spices.
Southwestern Eggrolls (Ala carte price: RM19.50) – Crispy flour tortillas stuffed with juicy chicken, black beans, corn, Jalapeño Jack cheese, chopped green peppers and spinach.
My favourite has always been the Southwestern Eggrolls which is smothered in lovely cheese! My second favourite would have to be the new Spiced Breaded Onion Rings, a new appetiser at Chili’s!
We also had the White Spinach Queso RM25.95 (not show in the pics) – White queso & chopped spinach with shredded Monterey Jack cheese, house-made pico de gallo, fresh guacamole, sprinkled with crumbled feta cheese & chopped cilantro. Served with warm and crispy tostada chips and fresh house-made salsa.
This is a new dish and is a very welcome modification to the normal Bottomless Tostada Chips!
Then it was time to sample the stars of the night.
We tried all four (4) variants:

Pretty Miko Wong trying out the tacos.
The tacos can be really filling. In fact just two (2) tacos together with the side of citrus-chile rice & black beans were enough to fill me up. Of course if you’re a big eater you can opt for the three (3) tacos option. The flavours were well-balanced and the fillings were generous. Also liked the warm and soft tortillas which encased the fillings.
And of course, no meal is complete without some desserts!
Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie RM17.95
Oven-baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice-cream & drizzled with hot fudge.
Molten Chocolate Cake RM22.05
Moist chocolate cake with a melted chocolate center topped with vanilla ice-cream & a crunchy thin chocolate shell.
Skillet Toffee Fudge Brownie RM17.95
Oven-baked toffee brownie topped with vanilla ice-cream, drizzled with caramel sauce & topped with toffee pieces.
The Chili’s Top Shelf Tacos are only available from 9 May to 5 July 2016 so do head over to try them soon!
