[Review]
The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2015 dinner which I had at Soleil (which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2015/10/09/migf-review-soleil-modern-european-restaurant/) was so memorable that I was quite intrigued to find out what they had in store for Mother’s Day this year.
The restaurant has a special Mother’s Day family brunch set menu which is available from the 6 to 10 May. There will be a selection of dishes from seafood starters to several meat options, side dishes of your choice, and of course – desserts. As well as offering our special sharing dishes, the restaurant will also be serving their ala carte menu.
The special menu can cater for both small (3 – 5 people) and large (8 – 12 people) sized families and you’re advised to place an order three (3) days prior the occasion to avoid disappointment. Family members are encouraged to carve their own roast and to serve – a well-known English tradition for a Sunday roast, although the staff can do it for you if you so choose.

Oh my! What a beautiful sight to behold! Deliciously fresh seafood that was served with three (3) dipping sauces including a house-made wasabi pickled sauce which was both spicy and piquant at the same time! My favourite was definitely the fresh and plump oysters and I had quite a few!
Roast Beef Cuberoll with Spring Vegetables, Red Wine Gravy, Yorkshire Puddings

A gorgeous medium rare roast beef cuberoll with the beef imported from Australia. This large piece of beef was slow roasted to perfection by Chef Evert, retaining the nice, tender and juicy meat inside with a nice crust outside. I really couldn’t stop eating this and good thing there was more than enough to go around.


You can opt to carve this yourself like traditional English families do…or get the kitchen to do it for you if you like. I suggest giving it a go and if you really can’t carve it properly then you can seek the assistance of the kitchen staff to do it. And please don’t let mom do it! She does all the cooking and preparation on normal days and on Mother’s Day it’s just appropriate that someone else in the family serves mom!

The Yorkshire puddings pictured above were the mini version for us to try. The actual ones will be full sized.
Black Forest cake with Cherry Brandy Ice-cream – RM120.00++ (serves 6)
End the meal with something sweet like the Black Forest cake which is served with house made Cherry Brandy ice cream. I really loved the ice cream which had a good balance of richness, sweetness and cherry flavour. The Black Forest cake was nice too and not like the commercial ones that you normally find in bakeries.

All mother’s will receive Soleil’s “Don’t mess with MUM” Mother’s Day apron, box of chocolates and a bottle of Crémant de Bourgogne sparkling wine worth RM280 (only for spending above RM1000.00 (excluding GST) in a single bill).
