[Fashion – Menswear]
Dior launched their Dior Homme Spring Summer 2016 accessories collection together with their menswear collection (which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2015/10/23/dior-homme-spring-summer-2016-fashion-show-menswear/) with a dazzling fashion show at the ‘Jardin à la Française’.
The work of the American ceramicist Kristin McKirdy, with its tribute to the mid-century – and the creative peak of Mr. Christian Dior – is adapted to jewellery. Here, the Dior lucky charm becomes a contemporary ceramic sculpture; an abstract talisman embodying the textures and colours of the collection, the bright, enamelled coatings becoming a code for key colours of the season.
“For me it is always about finding codes, menswear is full of them, and this is something i love,” say Kris van Assche. “In this collection many of the codes are traditional, but it is the accumulation of those traditions that makes it both extreme and essentially about contemporary elegance.”
Catching my attention is the use of the military fatigues design in bags, belts and wallets, while the use of orange is definitely eye-catching as well. The new range of footwear features modern designs with the use of zips combined with the traditional buckles giving it a most unconventional yet stylish look.
