Headed over to Zouk Club KL on 21 September 2015 for the launch of Lenovo latest plablet – the Lenovo PHAB Plus. This new premium phablet is optimized for single-hand use and targeted at today’s millennials who are always glued to their smartphone screens wherever they go.
The Lenovo PHAB Plus seeks to bridge the divide between big screens smartphones and small tablets by offering a 6.8-inch device with best-in-class entertainment, speedy Internet, and a large battery.
Lenovo decided to come out with this model after their research suggested that making phone calls actually ranks behind browsing the Internet, checking social networks, listening to music and playing games as preferred smartphone activities.
Part of the launch was a fashion show with fashion label Superdry. As I didn’t have my old camera with me and I’m currently not reviewing any new cameras (BTW any camera brands out there that would like to sponsor a cam?), I used the Lenovo Vibe Shot smartphone which I’m currently reviewing to shoot the fashion show (and all the pics at the event).

The Lenovo PHAB Plus has Dual SIM card slots which are very useful when travelling, and 4G LTE connectivity running on Android™ v5.0 (Lollipop) operating system.
Camera wise, the Lenovo PHAB Plus has 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras with Panorama Selfie function and dual-LED flash (rear camera) to help users take photos with more natural colour and lifelike skin tones. The Low Light settings enable bright pictures to be taken even in dimly lit environments.
Corporate users might find the Smart Tool function very useful. This app enables a photo of a presentation slide to be taken from any angle, and then adjusted and aligned for best results.
The Lenovo PHAB Plus has been optimized for one-hand usability and is compatible with both left- and right-handed users, making it more comfortable to hold and use the phablet. Just double-tap to turn their screen on, long-press anywhere on the screen to take a photo, shake to lock, create a one-hand keyboard that shrinks and snaps to your hand position, and answer calls through a series of voice-activated prompts.
The PHAB Plus comes with a 3,500mAh battery, which (Lenovo claims) provides up to 24 hours of talk time and 20 days of standby time, courtesy of a built-in platform that limits the internal temperature of the device.
The 6.8-inch full HD panel display has a definition of 326ppi and is compatible with all HD content including photos, movies and games. With an on-board 32GB of memory, you have lots of space for media and you can even add external storage to one of the SIM card slots further expanding the memory. The In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology gives an ultra-wide viewing angle, significantly enhancing screen legibility and colour vibrancy for watching videos and viewing social media content.
Gamers will enjoy the phablet’s Qualcomm Snapdragon® 615 octa-core chip with 2GB of memory which should be sufficient for most game apps.
Design wise, the phablet is encased in a uni-body design with round edges and polished buttons, crafted from durable yet lightweight aluminum material. It is available in two colours namely Gunmetal Grey and Honey Gold.

“With today’s tech-savvy millennial generation in mind, Lenovo is addressing the popularity of larger-screen personal devices, while acknowledging the portability struggles associated with tablet computers. The new Lenovo PHAB Plus conquers these boundaries, merging the fun of a tablet with the portability of a smartphone in a stylish metallic uni-body casing. Unlike other phablets on the market, the Lenovo PHAB Plus boasts a full HD display optimized for one-hand usage and provides an unrivaled viewing and sound experience, all within an attainable and very competitive price tag,” said Khoo Hung Chuan, Country General Manager, Lenovo Malaysia.
The Lenovo PHAB Plus is currently available at all Lenovo Exclusive Stores and Lenovo Authorised Retailer at the recommended retail price of RM1,199.00
