2014 Christmas, NYE & New Year’s Day 2015 Menu Review at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur

I like going to Villa Danieli at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur for food reviews, especially if it’s a more intimate setting where’s it’s just me and my partner, but every so often I also do get invited to group reviews where I’ll bump into my friends from the blogging scene and the media. Now the PR at Sheraton Imperial KL did inform me that it was going to be a Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and NYE tasting all in one so I knew it was going to be one really awesome tasting!
As it’s physically impossible for everyone to try the actual serving of each dish, Executive Sous Chef Kamaruddin Adnin and his team were smart enough to prepare the dishes in sample sizes for us to try. So before I get to the intricate details of the special menus on offer at Villa Danieli and Essence at the Sheraton Imperial KL, here are some pics of the food we got to try.

The exclusive 3-course dinner which is inclusive of the Antipasto Buffet (details below) is only available on 24 December 2013, 6.30pm – 10.30pm at Villa Danieli and it is priced at RM220.00++ per person. Or add on some fine wines paired with your dinner for an additional of RM150.00++ per person.
New Year’s Eve Set Menu
Mascarpone and spinach ravioli, marinated Mediterranean vegetables, sage butter top with foie gras terrine and green pea foam
Oven roasted Australian beef Striploin with Gnuddi, soffritto in beef jus, parmesan shaved and extra virgin olive oil
Pan seared swordfish, braised mix lentil, sautéed fennel with asparagus, black kalamata olive and smoked green pepper puree
Berries semifreddo with caramelized fruits, sable and mango sauce
The exclusive 4-course dinner which is inclusive of the Antipasto Buffet (details below) is only available on 31 December 2014 and is priced at RM230.00++ per person (food only), or top up an additional of RM150.00++ per person for wine pairing.

Lid caprese salad
Roasted pumpkin with baby spinach and walnut
Roasted beef salad with mustard dressing and arugula
Homemade smokey rosemary salmon with orange cinnamon drizzle
Spinach frittata with summer vege oil
Tangy lemon color spiral pasta salad
Wood oven roasted assorted potato salad with anchovy, shallot and garlic oil
Also why not put your “Masterchef” skills to the test by making your very own bruschetta with the whole Baguette bread and ciabatta, garlic tomato basil salsa, and sauté wild mushroom. There are also vegetables and meats in herbs oil – Grilled zucchini, Grilled eggplant, Grilled button mushroom, Grilled artichoke, Grilled asparagus, sweat pepperoni, and bamboo lamb chorizo.
I really enjoyed the ravioli, striploin, and swordfish from the set menus. Also deserving special mention was the beautifully smoked salmon (which I learned how to cut up!), lamb chorizo, roasted pumpkin, and grilled asparagus, and generally most items from the antipasto buffet were pretty tasty! So if you’re taking that special someone for an unforgettable dinner, you might want to consider Villa Danieli.
On New Year’s Day, Executive Sous Chef, Kamaruddin Adnin and his team will be preparing a special New Year Day brunch featuring fresh oysters, a variety of cheeses, antipasto, bread and a wide selection of braised dishes. There will be Tuscan Style Braised Red Wine Endive with Seared Pepperoni with Italian Seafood Salad, Saffron Risotto with Braised Ox Tongue and Parmesan Shaving, Braised Silverside Corned Beef Brisket with Rosemary Jus, Braised Lamb Leg with Polenta and Lamb Jus. End your meal with the Ivory White Chocolate Cheese Cake and Chocolate Tiramisu.
The New Year Day brunch is only available on 1 January 2015, from 12.00pm to 3.00pm at Villa Danieli, and it is priced at RM138.00++ per person (food only), and you can top up an additional RM220.00++ to get bottomless house wine, champagne, draught beer, juices and soft drinks with your meal.
Essence – Sheraton Imperial KL’s All Day Dining Restaurant
On Christmas Eve, Essence will be having a special menu for the night featuring dishes such as Pan-seared Maguro with tossed Baby Arugula, Candied Peaches & Crumbed of Baked Ricotta Cheese, Stuffed Snow Crab Meat in Grilled Baby Capsicum, Sauté Pacific Shore Scallop with Asparagus Spear, Comfit of Vine Tomato finished with Black Caviar and to name a few. Festive desserts include the Coconut mousse with Passion Fruit Jelly Yule Log, White Tiramisu in Shots Glass, Lychee Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Jelly, and more.
Christmas Eve buffet dinner is served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm at Essence on 24 December 2014 and is priced at RM138.00++ per person (food only) and RM178.00++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines and draught beer).
On Christmas Day, Essence, will be having a special buffet brunch featuring 120 mouth-watering local specialties as well as international dishes. Look out for classic and contemporary brunch dishes such as Roasted Australian Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding, Fillet of Atlantic Cod with Braised Rhubarb & Sautéed Assorted Mushrooms, Veal Scaloppini with White Crumbs and Char Grilled Brine Young Fennel and many more. Festive desserts include the Ivory Black Forest with White Chocolate Shaving, Traditional Chocolate Pearl Yule Log and more.
The Christmas brunch is at Essence from 12.00pm to 3.00pm on 25 December 2014, and is priced at RM158.00++ per person (food only) or RM378.00++ per person for those who would like to enjoy bottomless champagne, draught beer and house wine.
Christmas goodies and festive treats including gingerbread house and Yule log, are available for purchase at Toastina Café & Bar from 1 to 24 December 2014, Mondays to Fridays.
On New Year’s Eve, Essence has a special international buffet with Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Malaysian and International favourites. Look out for the Shred Comfit of Scallop tossed with Radicchio, Cannellini Bean, Semi Dried Tomato & Onion Relish, Smoked Black Pepper Duck Breast with Sweet Plum Sauce, Australian Grain Feed Braised Beef Cheek with Prunes & Green Peas Mash Oven Baked Sliced River Trout with Fingerling Potatoes and Sautéed Hericot Verts and more. Desserts include the Hazelnut Praline Panna Cotta with Apricot Compote, White Chocolate Sabayon with Fresh Mint Strawberry, Chestnut Mousse with Madeline & Berries Compote, and many more.

On New Year’s Day (1 January 2015), Essence welcomes the new year with a buffet featuring 120 local specialties as well as international dishes such as the Oven Roasted Stuffed Whole Angus Strip Loin with Green Apple, Spinach and Sweet Red Bell Peppers, Sauteed Hericot Verts with Pacific Shore Scallops, Shaving of Black Truffles & Dollops of Salmon Roe, Chunky Cut Pepperoni Risotto with Rack of Lamb & Classic Ratatouille, South Texas Carne Guisada, Reduction of Braised Fennel & Apple Finished with Feta Cheese Crumble and more. Desserts include the Royal Chocolate Banana Mousse Cake, White Chocolate Sabayon with Fresh Mint Strawberry and more.
The New Year Day brunch only available at Essence from 12.00pm to 3.00pm on 1 January 2015, and is priced at RM168.00++ per person (food only) or RM388.00++ per person with bottomless champagne, draught beer and house wine.

The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
