Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers’ Naomi Tham, Kelly Siew, Andy Kho and I went over to RP in Saujana Resort on 24 September 2014 for the launch of Carlsberg Malaysia’s Oktoberfest 2014. The Malaysian launch coincides with the same period that the annual Bavarian beer festival in Munich (the celebrations in Munich started on 20 September) is held, and for the 4^th year running, Carlsberg Malaysia has once again brought Oktoberfest to our shores.

As usual, the celebrations will be happening at selected Carlsberg pubs and bars across the country in the true spirit of Oktoberfest, with steins of German brews Erdinger, Franziskaner and Lowenbrau, and Malaysian favourite Carlsberg on offer to consumers. You can bring home the limited edition 2014 Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest steins, enjoy attractive beer promotions at affiliated restaurants and pubs, however this year you can also stand a chance to win cash prizes from the “Million Ringgit Draw” promotions sponsored by Magnum 4D.

“This year, Carlsberg Malaysia will be bringing Oktoberfest cheer to more consumers than ever. Our celebrations will be bigger in every way, with more big-scale parties in key market squares in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor, more interactive activities both on-ground and online, and more chances to make new friends or bond with old ones over our beers, food, music and fun,” said Carlsberg Malaysia Managing Director Henrik Juel Andersen.

The ceremonial “keg tapping” to signify the official start of Oktoberfest had Henrik tapping in the tap with Peter J Hourigan, General Manager and Vice President of Saujana Resort Kuala Lumpur; Kenneth Soh, General Manager of Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd and Kai Schlickum, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Carlsberg Managing Director Henrik Andersen revealed the country’s first ever “Oktoberfest Bier Bike” which was also recognised as the country’s “First 6 Pedalist Beverage Cart” by the Malaysia Book of Records. Its founder, YBhg Tan Sri Danny Ooi, presented Carlsberg Malaysia with the official award at the campaign launch. Look out for the Oktoberfest Bier Bike making its appearance at Carlsberg’s Oktoberfest party venue (listed at the end of this post).

Carlsberg Malaysia’s Oktoberfest 2014 will culminate in a three-day party at One Utama shopping centre, taking place from 10-12 October 2014. This huge party sees thousands of beer lovers (myself included!) throng the event venue to enjoy the German food and of course loads of beers, all set in a huge party setting with an authentic German band rocking the stage with some traditional German songs as well as some evergreen rock hits!

Fri, Sat & Sunday at 1 Utama, Old Wing Car Park, PJ Octoberfest event will be launch or pending?
