I attended the Miss Malaysia Tourism 2014/15 press conference on 14 August 2014 at the Grand Dorsett Subang Jaya and this was actually first time attending a Miss Tourism event. The reason went is because MHB’s official photographer is the official photographer for this year’s pageant (all the photos in this post is courtesy of Andy Kho http://www.andykho.com) and he convinced me that it would be worth my time, and in hindsight I’d have to agree.
The Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2014 is actually incorporates three (3) titles in one pageant: Miss Malaysia Tourism 2014/15; Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2014/15; and Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2014/15. The three winners will themselves cash prizes and sponsored gifts, as well as scholarships sponsored by SEGI University, valued at over RM200,000.00. They will then represent Malaysia in their respective international pageant finals.
The Miss Malaysia Tourism 2014 has a total of 18 finalists from nine different states participating in a 13 day even held from 12 to 24 August 2014 with the finals being held on 23 August 2014 and graced by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri at the Grand Dorsett Subang, which is the official residence and a gold sponsor for the pageant.
In the run up to the grand final night, the 18 finalists will be taking part in numerous activities which includes visits to sponsors, social work with the Rotary Club, and promoting dengue awareness. Other notable appearances include making appearance at Mah Sing Group’s properties such as Southville City @ KL South and Lakeville Residence.
They will also be making an appearance for MOG Eyewear at Paradigm Mall, and at a preview show at Berjaya Times Square KL which is the Official Shopping Mall for the pageant. The preview show at 7.30pm on 20 August 2014 will see the finalists compete for the title of Miss Glamorous.
