Avenue K was officiated on 19 June 2014 by the Minister of Federal Territories, YB Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor. The official launch featured speeches by the VIPs and a lion dance performance and was the culmination of the mall’s “Connecting KL” campaign which preceded the shopping mall’s grand opening.
Philanthropists Teri Choong of NGO Generasi Gemilang, and Dato’ Ruby Khong of Kechara Soup Kitchen Society Malaysia were among the AK ambassadors appointed in conjunction with Avenue K’s grand opening campaign. Teri Choong won RM8,000.00 and Dato Ruby Khong won RM2,000.00 from Avenue K for their respective charities in a treasure hunt held earlier in June and were presented with mock cheques at the opening.
“Keeping in line with our tagline of ‘Make Friends, Create Trends’, we’ve engaged 14 ambassadors who represent a colourful and diverse group of people in the city to bring out our ‘Connecting KL’ campaign to life. We want to share our joy of new beginnings with our customers so we have infused this energy and spirit into all our activities to start the launch of the mall positively,” declared Sue Wang, AK’s General Manager.
The newly refurbished Avenue K is Kuala Lumpur’s latest shopping mall and features various eateries, cafes, boutiques, a gym, as well as anchor tenant H&M. The mall is directly connected to the KLCC LRT station making it very accessible.
Fashion tenants include Muji, Cotton On and Original Classic, Hush Puppies, G2000, Kitschen, Clarks, Midi, Nichii, Dressing Paula, eyewear franchise, Sunglass Hut, Korea’s popular accessories store Redeye as well as an ELLE lingerie outlet. The H&M outlet at Avenue K is also the very first outlet to launch H&M Home in South East Asia in July. There are also luggage specialists, Leather Avenue and Cosas United.
There are a whopping 58 exciting dining options featuring cuisine from the East and West, and includes Bankara Ramen, Tokyo Pastry, Sushi Zanmai, Wondermama X and Taste Enclave Food Atrium, a selection of 18 delectable stalls and 4 mini restaurants selling famous Malaysian dishes.
There is also Grappa, Swensen’s, Ayer’s Rock Butcher & Grill, Fat Boy’s Burger Bar and The Loaf while if you’re looking for entertainment there is Black Bull which offers bowling, pool and karaoke rooms. Johnny Rockets and Samba Brazilian Steakhouse Churrascaria, are also notable eateries while coffee lovers will be spoilt for choice with Espressolab, Urbean, Delifrance, Starbucks and The Library Coffee Bar.
For children, there is the Dinoscovery by Dinosaurs Live!, an interactive and educational experience especially designed to engage the young. Breakout on level 2 which caters to those seeking new adventures with rooms that present its own web of puzzles and tasks crafted to ensure an exciting movie-themed escape experience.


DJ Joey G was the MC for the after party at the mall’s open air rooftop event space which was attended by celebrities Patricia K, Kuah Jenhan, Dasha Logan and blogger Budiey. The party featured performances by pop rock band, Kyoto Protocol and Dangerdisko featuring hip hop artist, Kayda as well as a fashion show featuring ID by Ruffey, Yescode, Elle, Esfolar , Muji, MIDI, FOS, Original Classic, Seen, Schmidt Leather Avenue and Leica.
