Kix HD “AreYou Tough Enough?” Challenge Launch
KIX HD (Astro Channel 729) kicked off their “Are You Tough Enough?” Challenge to search for Malaysia’s Toughest with a magnificent feat of strength where Malaysia’s youngest strongman, Zarol ‘Baby Ox’ Alfiyan, took up the challenge of pulling two Hummers chained together outside the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid on 5 March 2014.
The launch was the start of a month-long recruitment to find ten of Malaysia’s toughest individuals by KIX HD and Astro, as the official platform, and is supported by main sponsor Berocca, venue sponsor Sunway Pyramid and supporting sponsors Everlast, Fitness First and GNC.
“KIX HD epitomizes toughness with the warriors from our MMA (mixed martial arts) fight events, the action babes from our movies and series, and the daredevils from our reality shows. So it is natural that we ask our audience ‘Are You Tough Enough?’ We want to see if we can find at least ten people from our Malaysian viewers who are just as tough, if not tougher, than the action heroes and heroines we show on our channel. Let’s hope we can find some guys and ladies with the guts to challenge themselves and show everyone what they are made of,” said Andy Chang, Senior Vice President, Marketing of Celestial Tiger Entertainment, Hong Kong.
“KIX HD has been one of Astro’s most popular HD channels and we are excited to partner with KIX HD in search of Malaysia’s Toughest. “Are You Tough Enough?” is another example of the high energy action programmes we have come to expect from KIX HD and goes beyond the television screen,” said Junaidah Said Khan, Senior Assistant Vice President, English Customer Business, Content Group, Astro.
To promote the search, KIX HD will be sending their hot female KIX HD “Tough Troopers” across hotspots in Klang Valley to find Malaysia’s toughest individuals to compete in a final showdown. The recruitment campaign will see the “Tough Troopers” challenging Malaysians to a series of physically-demanding as well as mentally-challenging activities.
Eventually ten finalists will be chosen to compete in the “Are You Tough Enough?” Challenge for the title of “Malaysia’s Toughest” and a grand prize of RM30,000. The finals will be held on 26 April 2014, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, at the Orange Concourse of Sunway Pyramid.
Malaysian MMA champion and model Peter Davis, who along with fellow model and MC Hansen Lee tried to match the Baby Ox by attempting to pull the Hummers as well but I think they better stick to their daytime jobs. An exhausted Peter later mentioned that the finale event will be an ultimate showdown of toughness, much like fighters who compete in a mixed martial arts cage, and is a feat that involves challenging one’s core strength and mental endurance, pushing one to their very limits and emerging stronger and tougher than ever before.

Review: 300: Rise of an Empire
The movie “300” back in March 2007 was one of those ground-breaking movies which was just so epic that their sequels in the series have struggled to live up to it. “300: Rise of an Empire,” is told in the same visual style as “300” and is a new chapter of the Greco-Persian wars but this time featuring the sea battles!
The story happens concurrently with the Battle of Thermopylae where King Leonidas and his 300 men were battling the Persian army of Xerxes, and pits the Greek general Themistokles against the massive invading Persian naval forces led by Artemisia, the beautiful but dangerous commander of the Persian navy.
Knowing his only hope of defeating the overwhelming Persian armada will be to unite all of Greece, Themistokles ultimately leads the charge that will change the course of the war.
Starring in this one is the very stunning former Bond girl Eva Green as Artemisia, while reprising their roles from “300” are Lena Headey as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo; and Rodrigo Santoro as the Persian God-King, Xerxes.
The film was directed by Noam Murro, from a screenplay by Zack Snyder & Kurt Johnstad, based on the graphic novel Xerxes, by Frank Miller.
tomcat says – Guys will love this one as there’s the beautiful Eva Green and lots of action and blood flying around, while girls will love seeing all the six packs and half naked men running around. I enjoyed the movie although I didn’t think it was as epic as “300”. Guess it’s really hard to outdo a brilliant movie.
The film is being released in 3D and 2D in select theatres and IMAX, and opens in Malaysian cinemas on 6 March 2014.
