Magnum Gold – “As Good as Gold” Party 270214

This was actually the first time that I attended a Magnum ice cream event and I was quite curious as to what to expect as I’ve seen photos from previous Magnum events which looked rather posh in line with Magnum’s theme of pleasure and luxury.

So MHB’s Mynn Lee, Sarah Low, Kelly Siew, Andy Kho and I headed over to the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur on 27 February 2014 to see the “The Greatest Heist in History”. Upon reaching the ballroom, I was rather impressed to see that the event was pretty exclusive as there were only around 200+ guests in the massive ballroom which had a large gold vault in the middle. Taking a look around I noticed that most of the guests actually took the effort to dress according to the theme which was “black tie”. It’s rather hard to get Malaysians to dress for an occasion as most really don’t bother.

We’ve delighted you with a sensual palette of ice cream variants but now we want to bring the ultimate in luxury to this premium brand with Magnum Gold”, shared Herry Budiazhari – Marketing Director, Unilever (Holdings) Malaysia Sdn Bhd before he was “kidnapped” by a group of thieves attempting to rob the vault of its golden treasure.

After Herry was rescued by some secret agents, he was joined on stage by the beautiful 35-year-old Brazilian model film and stage actress Caroline Correa who starred alongside Benicio Del Toro in the USA Magnum Gold commercial which was directed by Bryan Singer (who produced and directed the X-Men movies and Superman Returns).

The party then continued with bars of Magnum Gold served to all the guests while we were serenaded by a jazz performance by Isabella Soliano. Hot DJ Patricia K then took over on the decks for the remainder of the night while we helped ourselves to canapes, desserts and drinks.

I must say that I was pretty impressed with the event. I certainly didn’t expect it from an ice cream brand. Perhaps by some luxury watch or liquor brand but Magnum ice cream? These days most brands/ event organisers try to get the most bang for the buck by cramming in as many people as they can into the (sometimes tiny) event venue and skimping on F&B, etc. etc. making the event feel very mass, but Magnum really went the opposite direction and made everyone feel like a VIP by getting every aspect of the event spot on – venue, ambiance, entertainment, F&B, etc. etc.

The new Magnum Gold consists of Vanilla ice cream with Sea–salt Caramel sauce, covered in Belgian Chocolate and double coated with gold Belgian Chocolate

We even got to make our own customised Magnum!

Magnum Gold is now available at all leading supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores, and petrol marts in either single stick at suggested retailed price of RM 4.50, or a multipack of 3 sticks at a suggested retail price of RM13.50.
