Launch of the Bankers Room
[Event]
Earlier last month I got to attend the exclusive preview of the Bankers Room which is a multi-concept 8,000 square feet entertainment outlet consisting of a dining area and a lounge. The Bankers Room is located in the Conlay Club which is at the intersection of Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Eaton, and away from the jam of Jalan P. Ramlee or Bukit Bintang. The complex itself has its own private car park so parking is not an issue.
The name “Bankers Room” is in reference to the outlet being located within the financial and business district of Kuala Lumpur. The concept of the Bankers Room is to provide a comfortable and refined place for the discerning clientele to indulge in elegant food, relax with their favourite single malt whisky, entertain their clients, or party with their friends.

Before the party we were treated to a specially put-together dinner menu featuring creations by celebrity chefs Sherson Lai and Johnny Fua from Asian Food Channel’s Great Dinners Of The World.I know my female friends always like places that have a wide selection of wines availableTrio of Bankers – scallop volcano, oriental smoked duck with mango and grape salsa, stuffed mushroom. A dish to really showcase the chef’s versatility with flavours and textures. I always love food and alcohol pairings and to my delight this dish was paired with Martell VSOP.Seafood Bouillabaisse – fresh rich seafood soup served with fine toasted almond garlic ciabatta roll. Seafood Bouillabaisse is a seafood soup that originates from Marseille in southern France made of fish and seafood commonly found in near the port of Marseille. The bouillabaisse was paired with Martell Cordon Bleu which lent its spicy notes to match the soupGrain Fed Ribeye – served with roasted potatoes, summer buttered vegetables, and a Merlot butter sauce with bone narrow. Finally a place which serves a decent sized steak. The main course was paired with Martell XO – a smooth and well-balanced cognac with a nice long finishBanker’s Tiramisu – classic tiramisu served with port wine. The port wine really lent another dimension with its slightly sweet dried fruits flavour to balance out the otherwise rather creamy taste of the tiramisu.Other guests started arriving for the party including some celebrities like Moots from Popshuvit, Pamela Chong, Nadia Heng and Lee Yvonne (L-R)Miss World Malaysia 2012 Lee Yvonne was the MC/ host of the nightOn the other side of Bankers Room is the lounge section with comfortable sofas and featuring a stage with a long runway that is purpose-built to host fashion events. The food and beverage at the Bankers Room is put together by their highly experienced resident Executive Chef Candy Han, who combines elements of European cuisine with a touch of Asian influence. You will be spoilt for choice from a array of dishes ranging from Belgian Mariniere Blue Mussels and French Duck Confit to the Japanese-flavoured Unagi Mentaiki Pizza.
If you’d like something a little different, you can even request a personalized tasting menu from the Chef, who will prepare some of the restaurant’s signature dishes both, on and off the menu. The restaurant is also open for lunch and high-tea.
