Tai Thong Mooncake Launch, Papillon, Rihanna

[Food & Beverage]

Tai Thong launched it’s 2013 collection of mooncakes at a media lunch on 1 August 2013 at the Imperial Garden Chinese Restaurant in Petaling Jaya. Honestly I’ve never been to a mooncake launch before so MHB’s Sarah Low and I headed over to stuff ourselves try out the mooncakes.

Tai Thong Group Executive Mooncake Chef Yiu Wing Keung telling us about his pride and joy – the Imperial Musang King Royale mooncake!
“It was important for me keep the purity of these wonderful durians as I wanted to maintain the aroma and flavour of the fruit. The only added element is the delicate snow skin that envelopes the delicious durian filling, perfectly complementing the taste of the fruit,” said Yiu.

A small bite of heaven!

A small bite of heaven!

Acknowledged by most as the King of Durians, Musang King Durians are renowned for their full bodied aroma, bittersweet taste and thick clotted-cream-like texture. Also known as the Raja Kunyit, this heavenly fruit is the most sought after and expensive durian in the world.

The Imperial Musang King Royale mooncake uses 100% premium Musang King Durian wrapped in a delicate snow skin case. Durian lovers will absolutely love the creamy texture and authentic durian flavours. I was speechless for a minute after putting it into my mouth. Just sat there savouring the piece.

You’ll need to order these in advance. RM78.00 for two (2) mooncakes.

There are 9 new flavours this year apart from the traditional ones.

Andy Kho and I recently attended Impiana KLCC Hotel’s  charity Ramadan dinner for 25 children aged between five to sixteen from the Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih welfare home graced by none other than Miss World Malaysia 2012 Lee Yvonne on Thursday, 18th July 2013 at the Impiana Banquet Hall.

After the ‘Tahlil and Doa Selamat’ prayers, the young VIPs of the day were treated to a host of sumptuous Ramadan dishes such as nasi briyani, beef and chicken satay, chicken tandoori with naan, daging kurma johor, ayam sambal petai, nasi tomato, roti john and other mouth-watering items including Baskin Robbins ice cream (read my earlier Impiana Hotel KLCC buka puasa post).

During the dinner, the children from the home entertained the other invited guests with a few numbers of nasyid songs, after which duit raya, Impiana bags and goodie bags to the children.

The children (and some adults) were very excited to meet Miss World Malaysia 2012 Lee Yvonne who handed over 400 units of eco-friendly pencils with her brand on it. This pencil campaign is supported by Lee Yvonne with the objective “Now every child can write and will bring million smiles, a pencil can change a life!”. The event was also supported by Bio Elements.
