This is actually my fourth time attending Carlsberg’s Where’s the Party? and I never get bored of it as the theme keeps changing and Carlsberg continually surprises me with each party! I knew that this time round the venue was in the Klang Valley but the secret was really well kept as guests including myself were kept in the dark until the meet-up point was revealed just a couple of days before the event.
Now so happened that due to the haze, a key project that I was handling with my girls from MHB got postponed to 6 July which was the same day as Where’s the Party? (WTP) however fortunately the project was in the morning/ afternoon while WTP started in the evening (phew!).
So after a day of chasing my girls all over Sunway Lagoon (you can read about that story soon), I quickly headed home for a shower and a change to get ready for a party that I’ve always been anticipating. You can’t get more mysterious than WTP. You don’t know the venue. You don’t know the artistes. You don’t know anything except the dresscode. You’ve just got to be brave and step up to the challenge. For those who did, they were rewarded with a party experience that will sure be remembered for a long time to come!
Anyway here’s what happened at WTP 2013.
.
The location, theme and artistes are always kept a mystery to dare party-goers to step up and face the unknown! But as this is the 4th Carlsberg Where’s the PArty? a lot of party-goers knew just how fun the previous party was so they participated in various contests and promotions to win the coveted passes to the most mysterious party of the year! The pretty Carlsberg girls helping to register the guests. As always the bloggers from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers and I were under media so we breezed through and quickly headed to the press conferenceSteph, Erin, Howie and their friends. That’s the party venue which is the MAEPS convention hall in the bakground. The theme of this party was aviation so before you could go into the main party venue you had to be “scanned” by the Carlsberg girls. You girls can pat me down any day!Arriving at the press conference in the main party zone, the first order of business was to get myself a nice ice-cold Carlsberg! After a hot and tiring morning working and babysitting my girls I think I well and truly deserve a few!Nothing beats an ice-cold beer on a hot day. But always remember to drink responsibly!!MHB’s Jiayeen, Melissa and Stephanie all ready to party! To kick off the press conference, new Carlsberg Malaysia managing director Henrik Andersen and Carlsberg Singapore managing director John Botia emerged from the cockpit of an Antonov AN-2 vintage piston engined plane to the surprise of the media! The Managing Directors and Marketing Directors of Carlsberg Malaysia and Singapore pose for a photo after Henrik delivered a short welcome speech giving some insight into this edition of WTP. Henrik also remarked that “air travel was the theme this year and announced that Carlsberg would be flying 10 very lucky people to the global Where’s the Party? in Europe with headliner Axwell from Swedish House Mafia. MAEPS was chosen as the party venue for WTP 2013 (Malaysia) as they needed a massive place that would fit the plane and the huge crowd. Henrik went on to explain that WTP was about taking partygoers to new heights and he hoped that Carlsberg set a new benchmark in the Malaysian party scene by creating another epic and memorable sensorial event. Then one by one the artistes for the night were introduced
.
The list of artistes included:
Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians president Douglas Lim
DJ Eva T
Nine Lives
Joel Turner
3AM in the Valley and Big Skrptz from Australia
Korean girl group Sweety
DJ Inquisitive
Miss Nine from Germany

Cazzette
.
Jiayeen and I with Korean girl group Sweety! We headed back into the games and chill zones outside after the press conference ended and unfrotunately most of the games were winding downThere were a lot of games for guests including Loud Ludo, Marshall Matters, No-Sight Flight, Turbalance, Safety Slides and i-Darts. This time round Carlsberg WTP introduced the ‘Be Bold’ mobile site where guests could interact with other guests, snap photos and take part in challenges that could win them passes to the global WTP.Grabbed some Malaysian local delights like nasi lemak, satay, mee hoon and went over to have our dinner the Chill Out Zone. It’s important to eat something before you drink. After all you don’t want to have a bout of gastric ruin your night!i Darts anyone? Good to see more dart machines this time round as they were very popular at the previous WTP in Penang. Beer and darts are natural companions after all!Soon it was time to head in to the Party Zone to kick off the party and hosting the event were DJ/ producer Joey G and the gorgeous Patricia K!Douglas Lim kicked off the performances with a comedic set that had the crowd laughing and even singing along to the chorus of his modified rendition of Beyond’s “Boundless Oceans Vast Skies”Nine Lives gave a rousing performance of popular hits and yes even Beyond’s Boundless Oceans Vast Skies (this time sticking to the original lyrics) much to the delight of the crowd who happily sang along again.Jen enjoying her CarlsbergThe were some well known public figures at the party such as Jin from Jinnyboy TV and Shelyn was quite star-struck haha!Kate with Jeremy from Red FMCecelia Yong the winner of So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia season 1Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 Carey Ng with Henrik, Roen and their friendsThe crowd started screaming and I look over to the stage and it was because South Korea’s girl group Sweety took to the stage
I was amazed that the crowd actually sang along to some of the Korean numbers! Ok ok I admit that even I know some of the lyrics to Girls’ Generation songs. I must say that I got pretty transfixed to Sweety’s horse-riding and hip swaying to Psy’s hit numbers.I always liked the fact that the Carlsberg girls were allowed to party with guestsDJ InquisitiveRemember the Antonov AN-2 plane which Henrik emerged from? Well I went to visit the cockpit!Singaporean party-goers enjoying themselves!Bumped into RebeccaDJ Steph on the decks? No that’s just Stephanie pretending to DJ in the Chill Out Zone.Spotted 2 cuties also in the Chill Out Zone. What was I doing outside? Hehehe well I got rather peckish so I decided to visit the buffet line again for another round of nasi lemak and satay!Meanwhile the party was hopping inside with • Miss Nine from Germany on the decks. Photo courtesy of Carlsberg Malaysia.MHB’s Kate, Jiayeen and ShelynAs usual there was a large variety of artistes and entertainment, but I was mightily impressed with the scale of the stage and thematic set-up which was bigger and more elaborate than previous WTP parties!Group pic!Confetti shower woo hoo!!!Nana with her cute friendBumped into Terrant and Billy and their cute friends (seems to me like there were lots of good looking people at the party!)The headliner of the night Cazzette soon took to the stage for their set of EDMJiayeen and Shelyn with Sarah and her friendsI was pretty tired from the long day so I decided to call it a night. As always there were the Responsible Drinking booths which educated guests on the importance of responsible drinking and breathalysers to check your breathe alcohol level. For those who were over the limit, there were taxis outside the venue for transport. No worth taking the risk to drink and drive. Remember – your life is precious! Don’t waste it!I pretty much expected this as there were also lok-lok vans at the 2nd WTP back in 2011. A very welcome sight for hungry party-goers indeed!Steph trying to cook her tau fu and adding flour on top of it. Sigh…FAIL!Till the next party!
