Nissan Almera Launched in Malaysia

Edaran Tan Chong Motors (ETCM) launched their long awaited B-segment model the Nissan Almera at the One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya on 30 October 2012. Nissan ALMERA has been enjoying brisk sales particularly in US, Thailand and China, and has sold more than 500,000 units worldwide and as such ETCM is confident that Nissan’s Best Selling Global Sedan will also repeat this success in Malaysia.

.First up of course was the mandatory round of speeches by ETCM’s big guns and the President of Nissan Motor Asia Pacific Co. Ltd

Dato’ Tan Heng Chew, the Executive Deputy Chairman & Group Managing Director of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad said in his opening address, “Tan Chong has truly been part of Malaysia’s nation building journey since Independence. From the generation of Sunny, came the time of Sentra and now, we are continuing our legacy with an all-new B segment sedan, ALMERA. This latest model showcases our continued commitment to providing affordable car ownership to Malaysians from all walks of life.”

The Executive Director of ETCM, Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng said in addition to Nissan’s great legacy and reputation for exceptional product quality and reliability, “Consumers will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with the upscale design, features and comfort that will give more style, technology and space. Nissan ALMERA is not only stylishly designed but what really sets it apart from the competitors are the premium features it has such as best-in-class legroom and boot space and premium technologies,” explained Dato’ Dr Ang.

He added that apart from Nissan ALMERA’s attractive price points, its economical fuel consumption, 10,000km service intervals and affordable, easily attainable spare parts will make the ALMERA’s total ownership cost very appealing.

Mr. Takayuki Kimura, the President of Nissan Motor Asia Pacific Co. Ltd, attributed Nissan’s success to the commitment from valuable partners such as ETCM.

“Tan Chong is an extremely important and valuable partner to our business, and has been instrumental to Nissan’s growth in this region. We are grateful to their endless pursuit for superior service and customer’s satisfaction. This year, thanks to their commitment to deliver excellent customer service, Nissan was ranked No. 1 in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2012 Malaysia Sales Satisfaction Index Study. We have no doubt that Nissan ALMERA will mark another great milestone in Nissan’s 55 years of strong partnership with Tan Chong,” commended Mr. Kimura.

I think the next two photos will being back some memories for some of you. I don’t know where Nissan managed to find the old cars in such good condition but they certainly reminded me of my childhood years as I’ve sat in some of these which were driven by my friends’ parents.

The Almera has evolved from a long line of famous Nissan cars such as the Sunny 120Y and Sentra. Talk about heritage!
