Headed over to Beach Club (yes I know what you’re thinking but we were in a cordoned off area just for us) with MHB’s Samantha and Chelsea on 4 May 2012 for Corona Extra’s Cinco de Mayo party. Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican festival to celebrate the victory of 4,000 poorly armed Mexican soldiers against 8,000 well armed French soldiers sometime back in the 1800’s.
The lovely welcome at the door
Chelsea took part in the giant snakes and ladders boardgame and won herself some cool prizes
I was busy drinking my Corona Extra. Stuff a wedge of lime/ lemon in for the extra refreshing flavour!
Chelsea, Elaine and Samantha
Samantha taking part in the boardgame and getting punished muahahahaha!
We had so much fun that we decided to join the last Cinco de Mayo party the following night over to Las Carrestas in Ampang. This time I brought along MHB’s Naomi, Wilee, Chloe and our photographer Andy Kho to take part in the festivities.
A lovely welcome as usual
Lots of ice-cold Corona for us!
Las Carrestas has some of the most awesome Mexican food in KL. This was the Mussels In Coriander & Habanero – RM23.90 – Black Mussels Lightly Simmered in Its Own Broth & Flavored with Fresh Coriander Spiced with Habaneros.
Jalapeno Chilli Poppers! For those who can eat spicy stuff though.
Chicken Fajitas! Make your own little ‘popiah’ with the ingredients. The chicken was really tender, juicy and flavourful!
This was my favourite! Beef Backribs – RM45.90 – Marinated With Chili, Jalapenos and Las Carrestas’ Unique Blend Of Seasoning & Char-Broiled To Perfection. Served With Barbeque Sauce Or Black Pepper Sauce. I choose the BBQ sauce which was savoury and slightly sweet!
Chloe trying to break the pinata (a traditional Mexican game where you try to break open the pinata which contains candy and sweets)
A little taste of Mexico in Kuala Lumpur!
Kudos to Corona Extra for bringing the fun of Cinco de Mayo to KL!
The Mariachi playing some high-tempo numbers as well as some love songs. They had the crowd dancing and singing along.
The crowd enjoying themselves salsa dancing. There was even a professional salsa dance couple who gave a fine and spirited display!
Till next year’s Cinco de Mayo! Cheers!
