Launch of the Johnnie Walker Double Black

Johnnie Walker unveiled it’s limited edition Johnnie Walker Double Black at twenty.one in Bangsar Shopping Centre on 8 December 2011.

The limited edition Double Black is describes as ‘a unique expression of JOHNNIE WALKER_®BLACK LABEL blended for Scotch whisky enthusiasts who prefer a smokier, full-bodied and more intense taste’.

Previously released in small quantities (you may have noticed it in duty free shops in airports particularly in Taipei and Singapore’s Changi Airport), JOHNNIE WALKER_®DOUBLE BLACK^TM has already earned a World Whisky Master in the highly coveted “Best Super Premium Blends” category of the 2010 World Whisky Masters Awards.

Master Blender Jim Beveridge (whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person during the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve launch) comments: “JOHNNIE WALKER_®DOUBLE BLACK^TM is a new and different expression of JOHNNIE WALKER_® BLACK LABEL^TM. It’s equally compelling, more than just more smoke and intensity… it’s got some special magic to it.”

Charles James Wright, Brand Manager, JOHNNIE WALKER_®, added “It was clear from the conception of JOHNNIE WALKER_®DOUBLE BLACK^TM that this was a unique and amazing liquid. The feedback we got from Scotch Whisky enthusiasts and critics for the small initial quantities released in 2010 confirmed that this was instantly a much adored and praised blend. Overwhelming demand dictated that it should be introduced to a wider audience but still as a limited edition targeting key gifting occasions.”

Ok I am a Johnnie Walker Black Label (and Green, Gold Reserve, and Blue Label) fan so I really enjoyed this new ‘twist’ to a familiar old friend. Enjoy it knit or over some rocks BUT DEFINITELY NOT with Coke!

Pity we can’t get it in clubs though…

JOHNNIE WALKER_®DOUBLE BLACK^TM will be available in select Jusco, Cold Storage, Sunshine, and other off-premise stores and retailers in Malaysia, from December through Chinese New Year while stocks last.
