Food Review – Zouk Cafe Bar (November 2010)
Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers first official outing was back in August 2010 where I brought Erica Ting and Stephanie Lim to Zouk Cafe Bar (ZCB) at The Garden’s Mid Valley for a food review.
Well ZCB were happy with the reviews and invited MHB back again to taste the new additions to their menu. This time around I brought Sarah Low, Michelle Lee, Nicole Foong and Chrystal Yap over to taste the new dishes that they had in store for us.
I started off with a glass of Johnnie Walker Black Label on the rocks after attending the Johnnie Walker new bottle launch and mentor class a few nights before. This is also for practical reasons as having beer during food tastings usually leaves me bloated for the night.
Now on to the important bits…
Zouk Cafe Bar is owned by Zouk Club KL (different from the Zouk spas)Nicole with her Ice Ice LycheeBreaded Fish Fingers - RM15 - appetizer to start the night. Goes great with the thousand island dip!Cajun Chicken Salad with honey mustard dressing – RM22 - a very healthy selection. I on the other hand like unhealthy foods so I left most of this dish to the girls.Homemade Pumpkin Soup – RM14 - creamy and flavourful. Excellent with the garlic toast.Mediterranean Seafood (skewer) – RM14 - served with Thai chilli dipVegetarian Tikka Grill (served with curry mayo) – RM8Shish Kebab (Lamb) – RM14 - I'm a meat eater so I liked this one!Prawn Tempura Set (bento) – RM36 - this is a new addition to ZCB's menu and puts Sushi King to shame.Pan Fried Black Cod Fish (on top of risotto) – RM48 - this is Erica's fav as she loves fish while I really liked the creamy risotto that was nicely balanced with the vinegarSpaghetti Primavera (vegetarian) – RM20 - a spicy pasta dish that really lights up your taste buds! Another healthy choice.Zouk Burger – RM24 - tender pattie smothered in cheese! Yum!!!Chicken Parmigiana – RM29 - pair this one with beer. Take a sip of your beer, swallow it then have a piece of the chicken. The bitter aftertaste of the beer enhances the flavours of this dish unleashing a new dimension to it (as compared to eating it alone).Spaghetti ala Marinara – RM34 - simple and common dish that's nicely done at ZCB.Chrystal with the Mangomisu - tiramisu with a refreshing twist!Happy faces all around!
Now my favourite dishes of the night were definitely the Homemade Pumpkin Soup, Zouk Burger, Chicken Parmigiana and the Mangomisu!
