The luxury hotel’s celebrations centre on Yun House, its Michelin-acclaimed Cantonese restaurant, which will offer specially curated set menus and a la carte selections designed to honour tradition while delighting contemporary palates. The hotel will also host a traditional Lion Dance performance on 24 February, marking the eighth day of the Chinese New Year. The iconic performance, which honours the festival’s rich heritage, is intended to bring prosperity and positivity to guests of all generations.

Executive Chinese Chef Jimmy Wong has crafted an exquisite Chinese New Year menu for Yun House, featuring three set menus named Majestic, Auspicious, and Yun House Fortuity, with an additional vegetarian option available for individual diners.

Each set menu begins with one of Yun House’s signature Yee Sang preparations. The standout offering is the Smoked Salmon and Black Truffle Yee Sang, which pairs delicately smoked salmon with freshly shaved black truffle. According to the restaurant, the dish symbolises abundance, prosperity, and elevated fortune for the year ahead.

The premium Yun House Fortuity Set Menu features elevated Cantonese classics, including Steamed European Lobster with Garlic, Scallions and Hsinchu Rice Vermicelli, and Braised Premium Abalone with Winter Melon and Sun-Dried Oyster. These dishes showcase premium, carefully selected ingredients while honouring traditional preparation methods.

For guests preferring a la carte dining, the menu features delicacies crafted with prized ingredients sourced from Malaysia and internationally. Notable offerings include Grilled Korean Wagyu Beef Char Siu with Honey-Pepper Glaze, Crab Claw in Singapore-Style Chili Sauce with Fried Mantou, and Crispy Roasted London Duck With Herbal Essence.

The dining experience concludes with traditional desserts including Deep-Fried Rice Cake with Sweet Potato and Yam, and Lemongrass Jelly with Bird’s Nest, designed to provide what the restaurant describes as a graceful and auspicious finale to the meal.

The Yun House Chinese New Year menu is available for lunch and dinner from January 15 to March 3, 2026. Set menu pricing ranges from MYR338 per person for the vegetarian option to MYR1,388 per person for the Fortuity menu, which requires a minimum of four guests. The Majestic menu is priced at MYR588 per person, while the Auspicious menu costs MYR888 per person, both also requiring a minimum of four guests.

Curate is offering a lavish buffet experience throughout the festive period, featuring a combination of traditional Chinese dishes and contemporary flavours. The restaurant describes the spread as capturing the essence of the Horse zodiac, known for its power, grace, and vitality.

The buffet runs from January 15 to February 15, 2026, with lunch priced at MYR190 per adult and MYR95 per child, while dinner is set at MYR240 per adult and MYR120 per child.

Special pricing applies during the peak Chinese New Year period. On February 16, brunch is available at MYR190 per adult and MYR95 per child, with dinner priced at MYR288 per adult and MYR144 per child. From February 17 to 18, brunch increases to MYR288 per adult and MYR144 per child, while dinner is offered at MYR258 per adult and MYR129 per child.

The Lounge is presenting a Chinese New Year afternoon tea service that merges traditional Chinese flavours with classic European elegance. The offering features a selection of sweets and savouries, complemented by premium teas and fortune cookies. According to the hotel, each item on the afternoon tea menu carries symbolic wishes for luck, longevity, and prosperity in celebration of new beginnings. EQ is bringing back its heritage Golden Phoenix pop-up restaurant for the 2026 Lunar New Year season, continuing a culinary tradition that dates back more than five decades to the original Hotel Equatorial in the 1970s.

The seasonal Cantonese and Szechuan dining experience, which has become one of Kuala Lumpur’s most anticipated festive offerings, will feature traditional dishes and celebratory menus crafted by Executive Chinese Chef David Yee.

Golden Phoenix originally gained renown for its mastery of classic Cantonese and Szechuan flavours during its heyday at the Hotel Equatorial. The annual revival honours that legacy while incorporating contemporary touches, with menus drawn from recipes passed down through generations.

Signature preparations include premium poon choy, double-boiled soups, Hong Kong-style steamed fish, whole traditional roast duck, premium seafood braises and the restaurant’s celebrated Golden Phoenix rice cake desserts.

For the Year of the Horse, Golden Phoenix is presenting multiple festive menus ranging from lunch sets to elaborate multi-course dinners. The selection includes the Peaceful Seasons and Rich Fortune lunch options, alongside more comprehensive offerings such as Happy Reunion, Bright Auspicious, Wealth Treasures, Great Prosperity and a Vegetarian Feast.

Notable dishes across the menus feature eight treasures traditional stewed whole chicken with Chinese herbs, double-boiled fish bone soup with fish maw and dried scallops, steamed pomfret or tiger grouper prepared in traditional styles, and Boston lobster with rice in superior soup. The restaurant is also offering an extensive range of yee sang with options including Norwegian salmon, Boston lobster, Hokkaido scallops and abalone.

The signature Poon Choy, a centrepiece designed for sharing, is layered with delicacies including ten-head abalone, sea cucumber, Japanese dried scallops, tiger prawns and roast duck.

Set menus are priced from RM178 to RM698 per person with a minimum of four diners, while Yee Sang ranges from RM138 to RM688 depending on selection and size. Premium Poon Choy is available at RM688 per pot for six people, and traditional roast duck is priced at RM288 per bird.

Beyond the Golden Phoenix pop-up, EQ is offering separate Lunar New Year banquet menus designed for corporate gatherings and larger reunions, with pricing starting from RM3,288 per table of ten.

The hotel’s EQ Beyond service extends the festive experience to private venues, bringing signature Lunar New Year cuisine and service to clients’ own locations.

EQ is marking the season across multiple outlets. Bottega Lounge will host a Lunar New Year Afternoon Tea from 1 February to 3 March 2026, while Nipah Restaurant will feature celebratory buffets beginning with a Lunar New Year Eve dinner on 16 February, followed by lunch and dinner buffets on 17 and 18 February.

Traditional lion dance performances are scheduled for the hotel lobby on 17 February and again on Chap Goh Mei on 3 March 2026.

A retail collection of festive hampers, featuring premium abalone, Chinese tea, treats and exclusive ang pow packets, will be available at a lobby pop-up booth from 27 January to 3 March 2026.

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur has unveiled a series of dining experiences and wellness treatments for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, welcoming the Year of the Horse with traditional offerings presented through a contemporary lens.

The hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant, Lai Po Heen, will serve as the centrepiece of the festivities, operating with adjusted timings to accommodate the anticipated surge in guests during the reunion period.

On 16 February 2026, the restaurant will host reunion dinners across two seatings – from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Regular dinner service from 6.00pm to 10.30pm will continue on other dates throughout the festive period.

For lunch service on 17, 18, 21 and 22 February, as well as 1 March, two seatings will be available: 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.00pm to 2.30pm. The standard lunch hours of 12.00pm to 2.30pm will apply on remaining dates.

The restaurant is offering six variations of the traditional Yee Sang, the ceremonial salad tossed during Chinese New Year as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. Options incorporate premium ingredients including lobster and caviar, two-head abalone, and soft-shell crab, with prices ranging from RM98 to RM988 nett for half and full portions.

Set menus, à la carte specialties and dim sum selections will be available through 3 March 2026, alongside the restaurant’s Treasure Pot offerings.

Two Treasure Pot variations are available for six diners, prepared with ingredients such as six-head Australian abalone, Japanese dried scallop and fish maw. The CNY Treasure Pot is priced from RM1,688 nett, reduced to RM1,388 nett for orders confirmed by 31 January 2026.

The CNY Supreme Treasure Pot is priced from RM2,688 nett, or RM2,588 nett for early orders, which includes a complimentary Chef’s Yee Sang. The restaurant advises guests to order 48 hours in advance.

The Mandarin Cake Shop has introduced a collection of hampers containing traditional items such as Nian Gao cake, mandarin and orange chocolate pralines, pineapple tarts and tea cake, priced between RM138 and RM1,388. Individual festive treats, including pralines, chocolates, cookies and signature cakes, are available for purchase.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, recognised as Malaysia’s Best Hotel Spa for three consecutive years, is offering “The Fire Horse Revive Ritual” until 28 February 2026.

The 90-minute treatment comprises a 30-minute ginger exfoliating scrub with natural salt crystals and citrus oils, followed by a 60-minute massage using two oil blends. The morning blend features rosemary, grapefruit and juniper, while the evening blend contains patchouli, geranium and ylang ylang.

Featured prominently at Noble House NH Square, the menus emphasise traditional Cantonese elements like yee sang and premium seafood, extending across the group’s outlets.

Yee sang remains a staple, with varieties priced from RM118 for medium portions to RM178 for large. Bases combine traditional or modern vegetables, topped with options including golden enoki mushrooms, crispy fish skin, silver fish, salmon, soft shell crab, or grilled Iberico pork neck. Side orders per portion include crispy crackers (RM6), golden enoki mushrooms (RM28), snow pear (RM38), crispy fish skin or silver fish (RM48), jellyfish, salmon, or soft shell crab (RM138), and grilled Iberico pork neck (RM158). Add-ons for medium and large sizes carry charges of RM30 and RM40.

Specialties draw on symbolic ingredients for the occasion. The Prancing Year of the Horse Farm Chicken, made from free-range chicken smoked over Pu-er tea leaves, is listed at RM168 each. Roast Treasure Duck, barbecued and stuffed with chestnuts and lotus seeds, appears in half portions for RM78 or whole for RM148. The entry-level RM1,888 set covers traditional prawns yee sang, braised sfin with crab roe, steamed deep-sea garoupa, 10 braised 10-head abalone, Iberico pork with garlic, and creamy taro sago. Mid-range options like the RM2,988 set provide salmon golden enoki yee sang, double-boiled stuffed sfin soup, 3-head abalone, claypot glass noodles with pork belly and king prawns, and osmanthus jelly. Top sets, such as RM6,988 and RM9,888, incorporate poached Australian lobster, 18-head South African abalone, Alaskan king crab, steamed empurau, and almond cream. Individual sets for a minimum of two persons range from RM198 to RM598 each.

Takeaway selections suit home gatherings. Shunde-style Poon Choi costs RM688 nett, including a Color King ceramic horse pot, with layers of 5-head abalone, sea cucumber, fish maw, dried scallop, free-range chicken, roast duck, prawn ball, squid, roast pork, dried oyster, fatt choy, lingzhi mushroom, yam, Chinese cabbage, spring onion, mushroom, and gluten; pre-order 3 hours in advance. The Celebratory Family Reunion Set at RM988 nett, also with a ceramic horse pot, pairs Shunde-style Poon Choi with medium crispy fish skin traditional yee sang, charcoal grilled Iberico pork ribs, and charcoal flamed claypot rice with waxed meat. The Steadfast Prosperity Gift Set (RM268 nett) assembles Hong Kong wing chow goose liver sausage, premium aromatic Chinese sausage, Oriental’s homemade Teochew spicy sauce (RM20 per bottle), 18-month aged first-draw top-grade light soya sauce, premium dried white flower mushrooms, and Tan Bei Lan Hua Xing tea (RM28 per 30g tin).
