Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Master Control Classic Limited Edition (Q4008520)

Jaeger-LeCoultre has announced the release of the Master Control Classic, a limited edition timepiece that draws inspiration from a 1995 Master Control reference. The Swiss manufacturer will produce just 500 pieces of the new model, which celebrates three decades of the collection’s heritage.

The new Master Control Classic features a 36mm steel case, measuring just two millimeters larger than its 1990s predecessor. The watch maintains aesthetic fidelity to the original design, presenting a silver-colored sunray dial with elongated triangular indexes and luminescent hour markers. Dauphine hands and a blued central seconds hand complete the minimalist dial design.

The timepiece is paired with a brown ostrich leather strap secured by a pin buckle, with lighter accent stitching that enhances the watch’s vintage character.

While the exterior pays homage to the past, the Master Control Classic incorporates contemporary watchmaking technology. The watch houses the latest version of the self-winding Calibre 899, a movement that has been a cornerstone of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s production for nearly twenty years. Through successive updates, the calibre now delivers a 70-hour power reserve.

The caseback features a distinctive emblem that references the original Master Control models’ “1000-hour Control” certification mark, inspired by the medallion design from the 1990s. This certification represents Jaeger-LeCoultre’s proprietary testing protocol, which evaluates the fully cased watch rather than just the movement. First introduced in 1992, the standard set new benchmarks for precision in watchmaking.

The Master Control Classic (reference Q4008520) measures 8.15mm in thickness and offers water resistance to 5 bar. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date display. The watch’s silver sunrayed dial is protected by a steel case that balances vintage proportions with modern wearability.

Founded in 1833 in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed over 1,400 different calibres and holds more than 430 patents. The manufacture, known in the industry as “The Watchmaker of Watchmakers,” maintains 180 specialised skills under one roof, handling all aspects of timepiece creation from design through finishing.

The Master Control Classic limited edition is now available through Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques and authorised retailers.
