DENZA Malaysia officially launched the DENZA B8 at Bangsar Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur on 21 May 2026. The DENZA B8 is the brand’s first Dual Mode Off-Road (DMO) Super Hybrid SUV in Malaysia, priced from RM458,800 for the Dynamic seven-seater variant and RM518,800 for the Premium six-seater variant. The pricing places the B8 directly within the established luxury SUV tier, where it competes against European plug-in hybrid alternatives including the Volvo XC90 Recharge, BMW X5 xDrive50e and Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e — models that have long held the segment’s default share in Malaysia.
“The DENZA B8 marks an important milestone for DENZA in Malaysia as we introduce our first-ever DMO Super Hybrid technology to the market. As we strengthen our presence here, we are not only focused on introducing pure electric vehicles, but also expanding our range of new energy mobility solutions to better serve the diverse needs of Malaysian customers. This launch reflects our commitment to offering more choice in new energy vehicles, while continuing to bring advanced technology, versatility and a truly premium ownership experience to the market.”
Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia
The B8 is built on BYD’s DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) Super Hybrid platform — an architecture developed to manage performance, off-road capability and long-range efficiency as an integrated system rather than as separate engineering priorities. It combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with dual electric motors and a 36.8 kWh BYD Blade Battery, delivering a combined system output of 450 kW and 760 Nm of torque through an intelligent four-wheel drive setup. The dual-motor configuration enables independent torque delivery across axles, allowing precise traction management on uneven terrain while preserving the refinement expected of a vehicle at this price.
Pure electric range is claimed at 115 km on the NEDC cycle, with a combined total range of up to 1,040 km — the latter supported by a 91-litre fuel tank. As with all NEDC-based figures, real-world results will vary based on driving conditions, load and usage pattern. The system operates seamlessly across three modes: Pure EV for zero-emission urban driving, HEV Series for extended range efficiency and Parallel mode for maximum performance output, switching automatically based on real-time driving demand.
Charging capability is a meaningful differentiator in this context. The B8 supports 120 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% state of charge in approximately 16 minutes — a figure that compares favourably with several European PHEVs in the same tier, which often top out at lower DC charging rates or rely primarily on AC charging. Alongside this, 11 kW AC charging is supported for overnight or workplace top-ups. The B8 also features a 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load function, enabling it to power external equipment directly from the vehicle — a practical capability for both outdoor use and emergency power situations that few European rivals offer as standard at this price.

The DiSUS-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System is central to the B8’s dual character — managing both its luxury on-road composure and its genuine off-road credibility. The system provides up to 140mm of ride height adjustment, reading road and terrain conditions continuously and adjusting suspension behaviour in real time rather than relying on driver-selected modes alone. The result is a vehicle that manages body roll, ride stability and cabin composure without constant driver intervention, whether on a highway, city road or uneven surface.
Off-road capability is substantiated by figures that go beyond typical luxury SUV marketing claims. A maximum water wading depth of 890mm, approach and departure angles of 34 and 35 degrees respectively and 275/55R20 tyres give the B8 a credible specification for a vehicle that is genuinely likely to encounter Malaysia’s periodic road flooding and uneven terrain conditions. It is a practical rather than merely aspirational capability at this price point.
The B8 is offered in two distinct configurations catering to different family use cases. The Premium six-seater features second-row captain seats with integrated ottomans, ventilation and massage functions — a configuration designed for passengers who prioritise personal comfort on longer journeys. The Dynamic seven-seater provides a second-row bench with electric recline and ventilation, maximising passenger capacity while retaining a meaningful level of comfort beyond what entry-level third-row SUVs typically offer. Both configurations support full electric folding and adjustment for the second and third rows, providing flexible cargo and passenger configurations as circumstances demand.
Boot capacity ranges from 147 litres with all seats in use to 920 litres on the seven-seater and up to 902 litres on the six-seater with seats folded — figures that are competitive within the segment. A Devialet 18-speaker audio system is standard across both variants, a partnership that carries genuine audiophile credibility and reinforces the B8’s premium cabin positioning. Nappa leather upholstery is exclusive to the Premium variant.
Five exterior colours are available — Alpine White, Dawn Gold, Eclipse Black, Emerald Green and Nebula Silver — each pairable with either of two interior themes, Onyx Black or Jasper Brown, giving buyers ten distinct combination options and a degree of personalisation uncommon at this tier.
The B8 comes with a six-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and six years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, covering seven services and valued at RM10,000 — a meaningful reduction in the true cost of ownership over the first ownership cycle. The BYD Blade Battery and drive unit each carry an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty, with drive unit coverage specifically extending to the motor, motor controller and high voltage electric control assembly. A V2L adapter valued at RM700 is included as standard. The B8 made its public debut at Bangsar Shopping Centre and Pavilion Bukit Jalil from May 22 to 24, and is available at DENZA showrooms in Balakong, Glenmarie, KLCC and Penang.
For consumers in the luxury SUV segment, the B8’s ownership package warrants closer examination than its headline pricing alone. The six years of complimentary scheduled maintenance reduces the total cost of ownership in ways that are easy to overlook at point of purchase but accumulate meaningfully over the first ownership cycle. More significantly, the eight-year warranty covering the high voltage battery and drive unit — including components such as the motor controller and high voltage electric control assembly that competing brands often exclude from standard warranty terms — directly addresses what has historically been the most cited hesitation among Malaysian buyers considering electrified powertrains from newer brands. The V2L capability, the 120 kW DC fast charging speed and the 1,040 km combined range collectively make the B8 a more practical proposition for Malaysian ownership conditions than its PHEV classification alone might suggest: it functions as an EV for daily use, a long-range vehicle for intercity travel and an emergency power source when needed.
