Breitling Opens Fourth Kuala Lumpur Boutique at The Gardens Mall

Breitling has expanded its retail footprint in Malaysia with the opening of a new boutique at The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley City — its fourth location in Kuala Lumpur and its latest in a global network that now spans more than 280 locations worldwide. The boutique, operated in partnership with The Hour Glass, opened on 6 February 2026 with a ceremony timed, perhaps not coincidentally, to coincide with the Lunar New Year season.

Founded in 1884, Breitling built its reputation on functional precision — inventing the modern chronograph and pioneering the navigational tool watch before evolving into the broader air, land, and sea lifestyle positioning it occupies today. Every movement in the current collection carries COSC chronometer certification, and Breitling remains one of a small number of independent watchmakers that produces its own manufacture calibres in-house.

The new space joins Breitling’s existing Kuala Lumpur boutiques at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC, and The Exchange TRX, consolidating the brand’s presence across the capital’s premium retail corridors. For The Hour Glass — the Singapore-headquartered watch retailer with a network of 50 boutiques across the Asia Pacific region — the opening represents a further deepening of a long-standing commercial relationship with the Swiss watchmaker.

The Gardens Mall boutique occupies a 30-square-metre footprint on the First Floor (Lot F-203A) and follows the industrial loft design language that has become a consistent signature of Breitling’s retail estate globally. Exposed brick walls and dark wood flooring establish the interior’s visual tone — raw in texture but deliberate in execution — while glass display cases line the windows and adjacent walls to showcase the brand’s full collection range.

The attention to detail extends to the less obvious. Subtle Breitling motifs have been engraved throughout the space — in the brickwork, on the door handles, along the sides of the bar table — offering what the brand describes as an intimate and immersive experience for visitors who take the time to look. Upon entry, a three-panel yellow backdrop bearing Breitling’s signature blue ‘B’ logo anchors the space behind the main bar, a visual statement that makes the brand’s identity impossible to miss while remaining consistent with the boutique’s restrained aesthetic.

The exterior is equally considered. Full-height glass windows frame illuminated lightbox visuals featuring brand ambassador imagery alongside imagery from the Superocean Heritage collection’s recent Aloha-themed campaign — a display designed to draw in passers-by while maintaining a sense of enclosure within.

The official ribbon-cutting on 6 February was preceded by a traditional Lion Dance Blessing, performed by yellow and blue lions — colours chosen in deliberate homage to Breitling’s own palette. The ceremony brought together a notable roster of attendees: Her Excellency Ms Chantal Moser, Ambassador-Designate of Switzerland to Malaysia; Mr Alvin Soon, President of Breitling Asia; Mr Travis Gan, Regional Commercial Director of Breitling South East Asia; Mr Norman Ho, Group General Manager of The Hour Glass; and Mr Teh Soon Kheng, General Manager of The Hour Glass Malaysia.

At the launch, we were also given an exclusive preview of several new and limited-timepieces, including a Zodiac watch commemorating the Year of the Horse, the Top Time B01 Shadow Rider, and the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 Malaysia Edition — a piece limited to 68 examples and available exclusively in Malaysia. The number 68 carries auspicious connotations in Chinese culture, making it a fitting choice for a launch timed to the new year celebrations.
