The New Toyota Vellfire 2026 HEV Debuts in Malaysia as UMW Toyota Motor’s New Flagship

UMW Toyota Motor has introduced the Toyota Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge as its new flagship model, combining hybrid electric technology with luxury multi-purpose vehicle specifications. The launch positions the Vellfire HEV as the premium offering in the Malaysian market for the automotive brand, which describes itself as the country’s number one non-national automotive brand.

The model features a 2.5-litre Dynamic Force Hybrid System and incorporates design elements focused on passenger comfort and refinement. It represents Toyota’s multipathway approach to electrified mobility and carbon neutrality, offering a self-charging hybrid system that does not require external charging infrastructure. According to the company, the vehicle combines advanced hybrid technology with refined craftsmanship, representing an evolution in electrified luxury vehicle offerings.

“The new Toyota Vellfire HEV shows how electrification can elevate the essence of mobility delivering comfort, confidence and a sense of quiet assurance on every journey. It reflects our belief that sustainability and luxury can move in the same direction, shaping mobility that is both progressive and personal. Through our Multi-Pathway approach, we aim to give both consumers meaningful choices that honour both lifestyle and the environment.”

Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor

The Vellfire HEV is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder A25A-FXS petrol engine paired with a high-output electric motor, producing a combined output of 250 PS. This represents a 37% increase in power compared to the standard 2.5-litre model. The hybrid system is designed to deliver what the company describes as a powerful yet efficient driving experience.

Fuel consumption is rated at 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO₂ emissions of 129 grams per kilometre. The self-charging Hybrid Electric Vehicle system recharges automatically during driving and braking, providing continuous power without requiring plug-in charging infrastructure. An EV Mode function enables near-silent, zero-emission operation for short distances, allowing the vehicle to operate on electric power alone under certain conditions.

The Executive Lounge cabin has been designed with what Toyota describes as the Japanese philosophy of omotenashi, or hospitality, in mind. The interior layout aims to anticipate passenger needs through various comfort features. The VIP seats include full power adjustments, ventilation, ottoman and massage functions. Controls are accessible via a multi-operation panel positioned for ease of use.

Additional comfort features include a rotary table for passenger convenience, enlarged armrests with integrated vanity mirrors, and anti-vibration seat structures designed to enhance ride comfort. These elements combine to create what the company characterises as a relaxed and indulgent cabin environment.

Interior materials comprise Nappa leather upholstery and soft-touch surfaces throughout the cabin. Ambient ceiling illumination offers 64 selectable colours, allowing occupants to customise the interior atmosphere. The flagship-exclusive Sunset Brown interior theme is available alongside the standard Black option. According to the company, the Sunset Brown theme evokes contemporary warmth and complements the vehicle’s aesthetic.

Audio and entertainment systems include an advanced 15-speaker JBL audio setup and a rear 14-inch ceiling-mounted display for rear passengers. Connectivity features include Remote Engine Start via the Vehicle Telematics System, which is accessible through a mobile application. The system aims to ensure seamless connectivity for both driver and passengers.

Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture GA-K platform, the vehicle incorporates enhanced structural rigidity aimed at delivering improved handling characteristics and a quieter, more comfortable ride. The TNGA platform represents Toyota’s modular vehicle architecture designed to provide a foundation for confident handling and ride quality.

Safety equipment includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which comprises an extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. The Pre-Collision System is designed to detect potential collisions and provide warnings or automatic braking intervention. Lane Departure Alert monitors lane position, while Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing Assist provides adaptive cruise control functionality with lane-keeping assistance.

Additional safety features include an Adaptive High-beam System that automatically adjusts headlight beam patterns, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert to assist with lane changes and reversing manoeuvres, and Parking Support Brake to help prevent low-speed collisions during parking. These systems work together to provide what the company describes as uncompromising safety standards.

Every Vellfire HEV comes with comprehensive warranty coverage, including a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 10-year guaranteed parts availability. The warranty package is described by the company as providing lasting peace of mind for owners.

Service support is provided through an extensive network of 98 authorised service centres and 47 Body & Paint facilities located across Malaysia. This network infrastructure aims to ensure accessible maintenance and repair services for owners throughout the country.

The Vellfire 2.5 HEV Executive Lounge is available in three exterior colours: Platinum White Pearl, Precious Metal, and Black. Interior themes are offered in Black or the flagship-exclusive Sunset Brown, providing customers with options to personalise their vehicle’s appearance.

The new Vellfire HEV is available at authorised Toyota showrooms nationwide. Pricing information and additional specifications can be obtained at http://www.toyota.com.my or by visiting Toyota showrooms.
