BYD and its luxury electric vehicle brand DENZA have launched the Light the Change Festival at The Waterfront @ Desa ParkCity, running until 4 January 2026. The month-long event combines the venue’s Year-End Light Festival with interactive sustainability experiences designed to promote electric mobility and environmental awareness.
The festival centers on “One Degree. One Future,” a global initiative aimed at reducing Earth’s temperature by one degree Celsius through electric vehicle adoption and renewable energy solutions. Since entering the new energy vehicle sector, BYD’s electric solutions have collectively reduced more than 9.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions globally, according to company figures.
BYD and DENZA’s combined sales in Malaysia reached 12,872 units through November 2025, representing a 76% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Cumulative sales since the brands’ entry into the Malaysian market have surpassed 25,233 units. The company estimates these vehicles reduce 62,191 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees.
“Participation in the Light the Change Festival reflects a clear message. Sustainability is not a far-off goal but a responsibility shared by communities, industries, and individuals. As a global leader in new energy vehicles, the brands are committed to creating meaningful experiences that help Malaysians understand how everyday choices, including the shift to electric mobility, contribute to a cooler and healthier environment. This showcase is a reminder that progress begins with collective action, and we believe that each person who engages with the festival becomes part of a growing movement toward a more sustainable future.”
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia

Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, has expanded the brand’s infrastructure significantly over the past three years. The partnership has introduced seven EV models to the market and established 39 sales and marketing outlets, 24 aftersales facilities, and 12 authorized body and paint centers nationwide. The network is supported by a dedicated BYD Training Centre and centralized warehouse.
“Our partnership with BYD is built on a shared vision to accelerate electric mobility and champion sustainability in Malaysia. Beyond introducing 7 exciting models and achieving over 25,000 units sold, we’ve invested in infrastructure, training, and aftersales excellence to ensure customers enjoy world-class service. This collaboration reflects Sime’s ESG commitments and BYD’s global leadership in EV innovation. Together, we will continue shaping a greener, electric mobility future for Malaysia.”
