Samsung Malaysia Receives ESGBusiness Award 2025 for Sustainability Efforts

Samsung Malaysia Electronics has been awarded the ESGBusiness Award 2025, recognising the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices.

The recognition highlights Samsung Malaysia’s efforts in implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives that aim to reduce environmental impact while maintaining business innovation. The company has introduced several programs focused on reducing waste, extending product lifecycles, and promoting responsible disposal practices.

Samsung Malaysia’s sustainability strategy includes a significant focus on digitalisation to minimise paper consumption. The company implemented an e-queue service ticket system that enables customers to manage service appointments without physical documentation.

Between 2022 and 2024, Samsung transitioned approximately 359,907 transactions to paperless alternatives. The company estimates this shift prevented the consumption of resources equivalent to 35 trees. The digital approach serves dual purposes of operational efficiency and environmental conservation.

The Eco Repair initiative represents Samsung’s effort to combat electronic waste by encouraging product repair rather than replacement. The program offers customers affordable repair options designed to extend the functional life of their devices.

During the 2022-2024 period, Samsung’s repair services handled approximately 41,419 mobile devices and 18,417 televisions. The company calculates that these repairs contributed to resource conservation equivalent to preserving 131,316 trees by preventing the manufacturing of replacement units.

To address proper disposal of electronic products, Samsung established Eco Recycle Boxes at service centers throughout Malaysia. These collection points provide customers with accessible locations to responsibly dispose of outdated devices, tablets, and accessories.

By the end of 2024, the program had accumulated 138.68 kilograms of electronic waste. The collected materials are processed through environmentally responsible recycling channels rather than being directed to landfills.

Samsung Malaysia positions the ESGBusiness Award as validation of its comprehensive sustainability framework, which relies on customer participation alongside corporate initiatives. The company emphasises that each paperless transaction, repaired device, and recycled product represents a component of broader environmental objectives.

The electronics manufacturer indicates it will continue developing eco-conscious solutions as part of its ongoing ESG roadmap. Samsung Malaysia maintains that technological innovation and environmental responsibility are complementary goals within its business strategy.

The company operates under the principle that incremental actions across its customer base and operations collectively contribute to measurable environmental outcomes in Malaysia’s corporate sustainability landscape.
