By day three(3), I was accustomed to the power and dimensions of the MG Cyberster and drove it with more confidence, although keeping to the road rules of course. There’s an incredible amount of power on tap for you to use, and I found myself feathering the throttle most of the time – something that I’m used to as I prefer smooth driving to aggressive driving that achieves little except saving a few seconds while making your passengers feel queasy and nauseous. If you really want to drive all out, do it on a racetrack like the Sepang International Circuit, but on public roads, please be mindful of other users and pedestrians.
I found myself appreciating the interior of the MG Cyberster, which is a thoughtful blend of cutting-edge technology, comfort, and style, designed to enhance the driving experience while creating a welcoming cabin environment. At the heart of the interior is the wraparound three-screen cockpit, a sophisticated digital setup that places critical information and entertainment within easy reach of the driver. This cockpit features a sharp 10.25-inch digital driver display paired with two auxiliary side displays, providing seamless and intuitive control over vehicle systems, navigation, and multimedia content. The digital interface not only looks modern and sleek but also ensures drivers remain focused on the road by minimising the need to look away for extended periods.
Comfort is equally prioritised in the MG Cyberster’s cabin. Both driver and passenger enjoy supportive Y-shaped sport seats upholstered in premium leather with Alcantara inserts. These seats are meticulously designed to offer both style and function, featuring six-way electric adjustment along with lumbar support to cater to individual preferences and provide ergonomic comfort on longer journeys. The combination of smooth leather and Alcantara adds a touch of luxury while maintaining a sporty vibe that aligns well with the Cyberster’s roadster pedigree. Practicality is further enhanced by ample cabin space that balances snugness with freedom of movement, essential for an enjoyable open-top driving experience.
Sound quality plays a central role in the Cyberster’s cabin ambiance, with the integrated Bose 8-speaker audio system delivering rich, immersive sound. Whether cruising through city streets or on open highways, drivers and passengers can immerse themselves in clear, high-fidelity music, podcasts, or calls. The positioning and tuning of the speakers create an enveloping audio environment, ensuring that sound quality remains consistent and enjoyable regardless of ambient noise levels. This quality of sound truly amplifies the emotional connection to the car, turning every ride into a sensory experience.

Connectivity is seamlessly integrated, with wireless Bluetooth technology allowing easy pairing of smartphones. Drivers can connect their devices effortlessly and enjoy streaming music, navigation, or hands-free calls. For example, users have found it easy to connect an Android phone and play music from apps like YouTube through the car’s premium speakers, adding convenience and personal entertainment on the go. This level of integration caters to modern drivers who rely on their digital devices for both communication and entertainment, enhancing daily usability without compromising safety.
The MG Cyberster also caters to comfort through thoughtful climate control features. Dual-zone automatic climate control allows the driver and front passenger to independently set their preferred temperature, ensuring a pleasant cabin environment regardless of changing weather conditions. The system maintains consistent airflow and temperature, reducing fatigue on hot or humid days, particularly important in tropical climates like Malaysia’s. Complementing this are additional comfort features such as ambient cabin lighting, which looks classy and cool, and enhances the mood within the car, especially during nighttime drives.
In terms of user-friendly technology, the Cyberster includes functional touches that improve convenience and ease of use. The central console is designed for intuitive access, with physical controls (yes, actual buttons, albeit the touch-sensitive type) complementing the digital interfaces to allow quick adjustments without distraction. Moreover, features like keyless entry and stepping on the brake to start simplify daily rituals.
Ergonomics have been carefully considered throughout the cabin layout. The MG Sport Steering Wheel integrates a number of controls, allowing the driver to manage functions such as cruise control, audio volume, and voice commands without removing their hands from the wheel. This design reduces driver distraction and contributes to safety. The placement of buttons and screens is optimised for natural reach and clear visibility, reflecting MG’s focus on driver-centric design principles.
The premium materials and build quality reinforce the Cyberster’s position as a modern sports roadster with luxury aspirations. From the soft leather upholstery to the tactility of switchgear and trim, each element is selected to provide a satisfying physical and visual experience. Attention to detail is evident in the stitching, materials contrast, and overall finishing, creating a cabin that feels as refined as it is dynamic.
The MG Cyberster’s interior exemplifies how advanced technology and comfort can be harmoniously combined to create a driver-focused environment that does not compromise on style or practicality. The wraparound digital cockpit, premium materials, Bose audio system, and comprehensive connectivity features successfully meet the demands of today’s drivers who seek both performance and lifestyle sophistication. Whether navigating busy city streets or cruising along coastal roads, the Cyberster’s interior offers a smart, comfortable, and immersive experience that elevates every journey into something truly enjoyable. This thoughtful fusion of technology and comfort positions the MG Cyberster as an appealing choice for electric sports car enthusiasts.

Nestled along Jalan Doraisamy in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Florentine KL offers diners an authentic taste of Tuscan steakhouse culture, infused with Italian passion and culinary precision. Now, parking there can be somewhat challenging, which is why we had to park the Cyberster at an open-air carpark nearby, then take a short stroll over to Florentine, which is located along the highly Instagram-friendly Asian Heritage Row (Jalan Doraisamy).
Inspired by time-honoured methods and premium ingredients, the restaurant is especially known for its Mibrasa charcoal oven-grilled steaks and focus on Chianina beef, a prized Italian breed renowned for its delicate flavour and tender texture. This mix of heritage, technique, and quality creates an exceptional dining experience celebrating the art of steak.
Florentine’s Mibrasa charcoal oven is at the heart of its kitchen philosophy. This specialised grill cooks meat at high temperatures, unlocking deep smokiness and amplifying natural flavours. The charcoal evokes rich aromas and imparts a unique smoky character distinctly different from gas or electric grills. It provides a memorable sensory experience that complements the restaurant’s rustic yet refined Tuscan aesthetic.
Florentine’s star ingredient is the Chianina breed, an ancient Italian cattle known for producing lean meat with well-marbled fat infiltrations that boost flavour complexity. True to Tuscan tradition, the iconic bistecca alla Fiorentina is served “al sangue” — rare to preserve the tenderness and juiciness that distinguish this cut. The restaurant honours this tradition, emphasising that overcooking such premium beef would be a disservice to its quality and character.
The menu welcomes diners with a variety of Italian antipasti. Classics like bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes or chicken mousse pate, pan-seared scallops over pumpkin mash, and lamb sausage with toasted bread showcase the kitchen’s capability to blend simplicity with flair. More indulgent starters include foie gras pannacotta with fig compote and truffled Italian beef meatloaf, setting the tone for the rich flavours ahead.
Steak lovers have a choice between cuts of both Australian Black Angus and Italian Chianina, including ribeye, filet mignon, and the much-celebrated bistecca alla Fiorentina. Each steak is grilled to perfection in the charcoal oven, served with a choice of sauces—from peppercorn and truffle to classic barbecue—and a variety of sides such as truffle parmesan fries, grilled asparagus, or mushroom medley.

Seafood selections complement the meat-heavy offerings, with dishes like garlic and herb grilled scampi or pan-seared scallops that feature prominently on the menu. For mains beyond grill, there are pasta dishes and lamb options, allowing for a full Italian-inspired feast.
Desserts round out the experience with Italian favourites—tiramisu, panna cotta, gelato, and chocolate desserts—providing a sweet finish that is both satisfying and complementary to the robust mains.
Florentine KL encapsulates the spirit of Tuscan dining through its commitment to quality ingredients, traditional cooking methods, and respect for authentic flavours. The use of the Mibrasa charcoal oven is not simply a technique but a culinary philosophy that delivers steaks that are smoky, tender, and bursting with character. The focus on Chianina beef pays homage to the heritage of Tuscany’s prized cattle, offering diners a true taste of Italy’s heartland.
In every dish, from antipasto to dessert, Florentine strikes a balance between rustic authenticity and contemporary elegance. It’s a place where diners can enjoy the warmth of Italian hospitality alongside expertly prepared food, making it a meaningful spot for casual meals or special occasions alike.

After the hearty meal at Florentine, we went to Crema Pasticceria Moderna (which is also part of the restaurant) for some coffee and pastries. Crema Pasticceria Moderna offers a refreshing take on traditional Italian pastry with a contemporary twist, centered around the authentic Italian pastry cream, crema pasticcera. This classic ingredient is thoughtfully reimagined into various delightful forms, including chocolate, hazelnut, ricotta, and mascarpone-infused creations, each delivering a balanced blend of tradition and innovation.
The menu features a variety of pastries to satisfy different tastes. Notable items include the bomboloni—housemade Italian doughnuts filled with Nutella or vanilla pistachio cream— and cornetti, Italian croissants which can be enhanced with creams like vanilla, chocolate, or pistachio. Other specialties include saccottino al cioccolato (pain au chocolat) and the Vesuvio tiramisu brioche layered with mascarpone cream and chocolate ganache.
For those stopping by for a light meal, Crema also serves a selection of savoury dishes, including Italian-style tramezzini, panini, and toast sandwiches made with housemade breads and quality ingredients. This well-rounded offering creates a cosy, refined spot for enjoying quality pastries and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere, all while paying homage to Italy’s rich pasticceria heritage.

MG, short for Morris Garages, is a British marque with a rich heritage dating back to 1924. Founded in Oxford by Cecil Kimber, MG initially built its reputation through sporty, affordable cars known for their driving enjoyment. The brand also has strong ties to motorsport, with early successes in racing helping to establish its performance credentials and enthusiastic following. Over the decades, MG’s identity as a maker of classic British sports cars became iconic worldwide. Today’s MG Cyberster carries forward this legacy by combining the marque’s traditional roadster spirit with contemporary electric vehicle technology, reflecting both its historical roots and future-focused ambitions.
Besides the flagship Cyberster, MG also has various other models available in Malaysia, including the highly accessible MG5 sedan (NA engine), as well as multiple SUVs and crossovers like the powerful MG4 EV (my favourite besides the Cyberster!), MGS5 EV, MG ZS EV, and MG HS (NA engine). MG has some attractive year-end promotions for their ICE and EV models, so do check out their social media pages or website at https://www.mgmalaysia.com/
If you’re looking to get a CBU MG EV, you might want to do so before the (CBU EV) tax holiday ends in Malaysia on 31 December 2025.
