Huawei has officially launched its highly anticipated Pura 80 Series smartphones in Malaysia, introducing what the company claims are groundbreaking advancements in mobile photography and premium design.
The new lineup, comprising the Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra models, arrives in Malaysia following its global debut in Dubai, promising to redefine smartphone imaging capabilities through innovative hardware and artificial intelligence integration.
The standout feature of the Pura 80 Ultra is its industry-first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera system, which combines a 3.7x medium telephoto and 9.4x super telephoto lens within a single optical structure. Both lenses utilize a substantial 1/1.28-inch sensor, enabling seamless transitions between different focal lengths while maintaining exceptional light intake capabilities.
The Ultra model also introduces what Huawei describes as the industry’s strongest dynamic range through its 50MP 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera. The system achieves an impressive 16EV dynamic range – nearly matching professional cinema cameras rated at 16.5EV – representing a 15-fold improvement over conventional smartphones. The camera features a variable F1.6 to F4.0 aperture and incorporates Huawei’s proprietary Triple Light Enhancement Technology.
Meanwhile, the Pura 80 Pro is equipped with a 1-inch Ultra Lighting Camera designed for superior low-light performance, complemented by an Ultra Chroma Camera that ensures accurate colour reproduction across various lighting conditions. The Pro model also features an Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera with an F2.1 aperture that captures 40% more light than traditional cameras, offering zoom capabilities from 4x optical to 100x digital with a 5cm close-focus distance for detailed macro photography.

The Pura 80 Series showcases Huawei’s refined design philosophy through its iconic Dazzling Forward Symbol and luxurious finish options. The Ultra model is available in Prestige Gold and Golden Black variants with radiant sunburst patterns, while the Pro model offers Glazed Red, Glazed White, and Glazed Black options, each featuring what Huawei describes as a silky lustre finish.
Beyond photography, the devices incorporate intelligent features including an AI Smart Controls Button that provides instant access to personalised shortcuts and incorporates fingerprint recognition. AI Noise Cancellation technology ensures clear voice calls by filtering background noise and enhancing voice clarity.
The smartphones feature Huawei’s Ultra-clear X-True Display with peak brightness of 3000 nits, adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, and enhanced visibility in bright conditions. Power comes from a robust 5170mAh battery supporting 100W Huawei SuperCharge wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
Durability receives significant attention with the Pura 80 Ultra featuring 2nd-Generation Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass, offering 16 times greater scratch resistance and 25 times better drop protection compared to its predecessor. The Pro model incorporates 2nd-Generation Kunlun Glass that provides 20 times greater strength than standard glass.
The devices maintain compatibility with essential applications through Huawei’s AppGallery platform, ensuring secure and smooth user experiences.
Malaysian consumers can now pre-order the Pura 80 Series through multiple channels including Huawei Experience Stores, the official Huawei website, and major e-commerce platforms including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Pricing begins at RM4,599, with early purchasers eligible for complimentary gifts worth up to RM1,428, including Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 earphones and one year of Huawei Care+ service.
