Global AI device ecosystem company HONOR unveiled the Magic V5 in Malaysia on 15 July 2025, positioning it as the world’s slimmest foldable smartphone. The device maintains the same RM6,999 retail price as its predecessor for the third consecutive year, despite incorporating substantial hardware and software improvements within an ultra-slim 8.8mm body.
The company is offering a comprehensive pre-order package valued at RM3,497 for customers who purchase the device before 24 July 2025. The bundle includes a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 9 premium speaker worth RM1,299, along with enhanced protection plans featuring one-year crack protection and two-year quality assurance coverage.
HONOR has introduced a trade-in program allowing customers to exchange old smartphones, tablets, or laptops for an additional RM400 rebate when purchasing the Magic V5. The program runs from 15 July to 31 August 2025, and is available at HONOR Experience Stores as well as selected Maxis, Senheng, Grand Senheng, SenQ, Urban Republic, and Harvey Norman outlets. The company is also offering a 24-month instalment plan with zero percent interest, reducing monthly payments to RM292. This financing option is available exclusively through HONOR Experience Stores.
The Magic V5 measures just 4.1mm when unfolded—comparable to the thickness of a 50-cent coin—and weighs 217g, establishing new industry benchmarks for foldable smartphone design. Despite its ultra-slim profile, the device delivers enhanced battery life, camera performance, and durability compared to its predecessor.
The smartphone features a 5820mAh HONOR Silicon-Carbon Battery, described as the thinnest high-capacity cell in its segment. Power efficiency is optimised through HONOR’s E2 Power Enhanced Chip, which ensures superior safety and thermal performance.

The Magic V5 incorporates a 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with 100x zoom capabilities, which HONOR claims is the best telephoto camera in any foldable device. The camera system also includes a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and 20MP selfie camera.
AI imaging capabilities include Super Zoom, Enhanced Portrait, and Motion Sensing Capture functions. The device also offers integrated AI editing features such as Outpainting, Eraser, Cutout, Upscale, and Live Photo tools within the gallery application.
The smartphone’s construction utilises Aerospace Special Fiber for the body casing, while the outer screen incorporates an upgraded Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield designed to resist scratches from sharp objects and withstand drops onto hard surfaces.
The inner screen features a triple protection layer including Non-Newtonian Fluid technology for impact resistance. An AI-powered Foreign Object Detection system alerts users to particles as small as 0.8mm entering the screen area while folded.
The reinforced hinge is rated for up to 500,000 folding cycles, equivalent to 100 folds per day over 13 years. The device carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for water and dust resistance.
The Magic V5 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, delivering enhanced processing power and AI capabilities for multitasking performance. Both displays feature 4,320Hz PWM Dimming to reduce eye strain and achieve peak brightness of 5,000 nits for outdoor visibility.
The device’s 7.95-inch inner screen provides a tablet-like experience with a new Three Split Screen feature for simultaneous multitasking. Users can record meetings with AI Notes, generate AI summaries, and manage communications across multiple applications simultaneously.
The Magic V5 includes enhanced cross-platform connectivity through an upgraded HONOR Share feature, allowing file sharing between iOS, macOS, and the device. iPhone users can utilise iCloud Cloning to transfer data, including messages, notes, photos, contacts, and calendar information.
The HONOR Magic V5 will be available in four colours: Dawn Gold, Ivory White, Silk Brown, and Black. All models include 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Additional information is available on HONOR’s official website at www.honor.com/my
