Hublot Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve

Hublot has unveiled its most ambitious Square Bang timepiece to date, the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, marking a significant departure from traditional round watch movements and establishing new benchmarks in haute horlogerie design.

The new timepiece represents multiple firsts for the Swiss manufacture: the first Square Bang model to feature two central hands, the first to incorporate a 3D carbon case, the first regulated by a tourbillon, and notably, the first to contain exclusively square bridges throughout its movement architecture.

Since launching the Square Bang collection in 2022 as the third addition to the Big Bang family alongside the round Big Bang and tonneau-shaped Spirit of Big Bang, Hublot has produced approximately twenty variations of the 42mm square case. However, all previous models were chronograph pieces until this latest introduction.

The centerpiece of this new timepiece is the specially developed MHUB6023 manual movement, engineered specifically for the Square Bang Tourbillon. The 174-component calibre features exclusively square and rectangular bridges, each finished with a sophisticated combination of matte and satin treatments that highlight the varying depths of the bridge placement.

“Until now, advances in square watches have been rather timid, usually confined to the case alone. With the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, we wanted to take the exercise to its logical conclusion, by designing a movement whose architecture is also fully right-angled. The bridges are straight, clean and sharp, as if to protect a movement that always beats to the rhythm of a perfect circle, that of the Tourbillon, barrel and power reserve. The fusion is complete.”

Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot

The movement’s architecture demonstrates careful geometric planning, with main components distributed across the four sides of the square case: winding mechanism on the right, power reserve indicator on the left, large barrel positioned at the top, and the tourbillon at the bottom. This symmetrical arrangement creates visual balance while showcasing the fully skeletonised movement.

The 42mm case marks another innovation for the collection, constructed entirely from 3D carbon fibre with a distinctive weave pattern incorporating vertical and horizontal lines arranged in square motifs. This represents the first 3D carbon case in the Square Bang lineup, complemented by a rubber strap featuring matching square textures for design continuity.

Technical performance features an extended four-day power reserve, accompanied by a countdown indicator at 9:00, which displays the remaining days and hours. The tourbillon features a silicon escapement designed to resist magnetic interference and temperature variations commonly encountered in daily wear.

The timepiece maintains water resistance to 30 meters and features a sapphire crystal dial with anti-reflective treatment. The movement operates at 3Hz (21,600 alternations per hour) with 25 jewels and a minimum 96-hour power reserve.

Hublot’s approach reflects the company’s foundational philosophy of fusion, established in 1980 when the brand first combined gold cases with rubber straps. The 2005 introduction of the Big Bang collection, which won the Best Design award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, established the platform for continued innovation in case construction and movement design.

The Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve builds on this heritage while pushing boundaries in geometric horological design, representing what the company describes as the logical conclusion of square case development through complete movement architecture integration.

The timepiece is priced in Malaysia at MYR 439,900
