MG Motor Malaysia Announces MGS5 EV Pricing from Just RM109,900 with Exclusive Launch Savings

MG Motor Malaysia announced pricing for its all-new MGS5 EV, a B-segment electric SUV that positions itself as an affordable entry point into the electric vehicle market. The company is offering significant launch incentives for early adopters, bringing the entry-level price down to RM109,900 for the first 500 buyers.

The MGS5 EV lineup comprises three variants across two battery capacities. Standard pricing begins at RM115,900 for the 49kWh MGS5 EV COM, RM125,900 for the 62kWh MGS5 EV COM Long Range, and RM135,900 for the top-tier 62kWh MGS5 EV LUX Long Range. However, in conjunction with the launch and MG’s first anniversary celebration in Malaysia, the company is providing RM6,000 in savings for qualifying customers.

The launch promotion includes a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC charger for home charging convenience, though installation costs are separate. The vehicle comes with comprehensive warranty coverage including a 7-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, 8-year or 180,000km high-voltage battery pack warranty, and 8-year or 160,000km coverage for the drive motor and motor control unit.

Available in two variants – COM and LUX – the MGS5 EV offers battery options of either 49kWh or 62kWh, delivering WLTP ranges of up to 340km and 430km respectively. All variants produce 170PS and 250Nm of torque through a rear-wheel drive configuration, which MG claims is unique in its segment. Standard equipment includes 7kW AC charging capabilities across all models.

The premium LUX variant distinguishes itself with DC fast charging capability of up to 150kW, enabling 10 to 80 percent charging in just 26 minutes. Additional luxury features include 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging, six premium speakers, powered tailgate, and 360-degree surround view camera.

Standard features across the range include LED headlamps with ‘Racing Flag’ themed daytime running lights, MG’s signature Arch Taillights, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch central infotainment touchscreen with voice command, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Boot space reaches 1,441 litres including the underfloor compartment.

The MGS5 EV incorporates an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout designed to maximize cabin space while maintaining a low center of gravity. An advanced adaptive pressure control system minimizes battery cell expansion, enhancing both safety and battery longevity according to the manufacturer.

Color options include Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte, with the latter available exclusively on the 62kWh LUX Long Range variant.

Customers can test drive the MGS5 EV at MG Motor Malaysia’s “Dare to Love” roadshow currently taking place at Mid Valley Megamall’s Centre Court from 20-25 May 2025. This represents the second public opportunity to experience the vehicle following its debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.

During the roadshow, promotional pricing reflects the RM6,000 launch savings: RM109,900 for the 49kWh COM, RM119,900 for the 62kWh COM Long Range, and RM129,900 for the LUX Long Range variant.

The event also showcases MG’s complete Malaysian lineup including the MG5, MG4, MG HS, and the MG Cyberster all-electric roadster. Test drives are available for most models, while customers booking the MG Cyberster receive additional incentives including a one-year unlimited charging package with JomCharge, a complimentary wallbox charger, and an exclusive diecast model.

Additional roadshow promotions include a RM5,000 rebate on the MG5 and MG HS, plus flexible ownership plans for the MG4 with monthly payments starting from RM974.
