Swiss luxury watchmaker Ulysse Nardin has unveiled its latest timepiece, the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK], a high-performance dive watch designed to support shark conservation while showcasing the company’s maritime heritage and precision engineering.
The independent Swiss manufacturer, established in 1846, has deep connections to maritime navigation. Dozens of the world’s navies historically relied on Ulysse Nardin’s marine chronometers for essential navigational assistance, building the company’s reputation for supreme mechanical accuracy across continents. Nearly 180 years later, the watchmaker continues as a pioneer of precision mechanical timepieces.
The new Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK] represents both the company’s disruptive approach to high horology and its ongoing commitment to ocean conservation. Built upon Ulysse Nardin’s established Diver collection, the watch incorporates the manufacturer’s unique maritime heritage into a modern conservation-focused design.
The timepiece features robust diving capabilities with 300 meters of water resistance and includes a uni-directional rotating bezel for timing dives, luminous detailing, and a clearly visible running seconds hand to indicate operational status. These specifications position it as a functional tool for serious diving applications.
At the heart of the watch lies the flagship UN-118 Manufacture Movement, a reliable self-winding caliber featuring an escapement made of DiamonSil and a balance spring constructed from silicon. This represents Ulysse Nardin’s revolutionary antimagnetic, lubrication-free silicon technology. The movement provides a 60-hour power reserve, displayed through a gauge positioned at 12 o’clock, and includes a date-corrector mechanism allowing both forward and backward date adjustment.
The conservation aspect follows Ulysse Nardin’s established pattern with previous “shark line” releases. The company has pledged that 1 per cent of annual sales from the Diver [HAMMERHEAD SHARK] will be donated to conservation efforts, continuing the manufacturer’s membership in 1% for the Planet through its SHARK Line of watches.
Members of the global organisation, founded in 2002, commit to contributing 1 per cent of revenues to organisations working to conserve, protect and restore the environment. For this release, the designated recipient will be Shark Trust, a UK-based non-profit organisation focused on shark conservation efforts.
The Ulysse Nardin Diver [Hammerhead Shark] is a limited edition of 300 pieces and will be retailing in Malaysia at RM 55,300.
