DENZA Officially Launched in Malaysia with DENZA D9

The Malaysian automotive landscape welcomed a new premium player recently as DENZA, a luxury sub-brand under BYD, officially launched its operations with the introduction of its flagship model, the DENZA D9. The brand’s entry marks BYD’s strategic expansion into the premium vehicle segment in Malaysia, offering consumers a blend of sophisticated design, cutting-edge technology, and environmentally conscious performance.

The launch event, held at The Landing, KL Base, showcased DENZA’s commitment to “Redefining Sophistication” in the luxury vehicle market, particularly in the premium multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment.

DENZA’s history dates back to 2010 when it was established as a 50-50 joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, creating a unique fusion of BYD’s technological prowess and Mercedes-Benz’s luxury heritage. Following ownership restructuring in 2021 and 2024, DENZA now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD.

Since launching its first model in 2014, DENZA has carved a niche in the premium automotive sector with a diverse portfolio spanning SUV, MPV, and sedan segments. The D9, first introduced in 2022, represents the culmination of this vision as a smart, luxurious MPV designed to balance business functionality with personal comfort needs. Notably, the D9 has achieved significant market success, becoming China’s best-selling MPV in 2023 and maintaining the top position in cumulative sales through 2024.

DENZA distinguishes itself through technological innovation, particularly with its advanced e3 system that integrates three electric motors, rear-wheel steering, Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, and Vehicle Motion Control (VMC). This sophisticated engineering delivers exceptional performance across varied driving conditions.

Further enhancing the driving experience is the DiSus intelligent body control system, featuring DiSus-C active suspension for stability and DiSus-A for dynamic adjustments that optimize comfort and off-road capabilities.

In a notable partnership announced in March 2023, DENZA collaborated with French luxury audio brand DEVIALET, further elevating the sensory experience for D9 owners. This alliance reflects DENZA’s philosophy that luxury extends beyond tangible features to encompass immersive experiences.

The DENZA D9 will be available in Malaysia in two variants: the Advanced (FWD) model priced at RM 259,000 and the Premium (AWD) version at RM 309,000. Customers can choose from three exterior color options—Arctic White, Cosmos Black, and Whale Sea Blue—and two interior colour schemes—Beige and Brown.

DENZA is backing its entry into the Malaysian market with comprehensive warranty coverage: up to 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery (with State of Health maintained above 70%), 8 years or 150,000 km for the drive motor and motor controller, and 6 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle itself.

Malaysian consumers interested in experiencing the DENZA D9 firsthand can attend the launch event running from February 21 to 23 at The Landing, KL Base. The event features test drives, technology showcases, and VR showroom experiences.

DENZA’s global footprint continues to expand, with established presence in Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong before its Malaysian debut. The brand has received over 300,000 cumulative orders worldwide, reflecting strong consumer confidence in its vision of premium, sustainable mobility.
