Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has unveiled its latest smartphone lineup, the Redmi Note 14 Series, in Malaysia, marking a significant upgrade in the company’s mid-range segment. The new series comprises four models: the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 14 5G, and Redmi Note 14, each offering advanced features previously reserved for flagship devices.

This launch comes as Xiaomi continues to strengthen its position in the global smartphone market, with its Monthly Active Users (MAU) reaching approximately 685.8 million globally as of September 2024. The company’s AIoT platform has connected approximately 861.4 million smart devices, excluding smartphones, laptops, and tablets, as of September 30, 2024. This launch follows Xiaomi’s strategic upgrade to a “Human × Car × Home” smart ecosystem in October 2023, aiming to provide more comprehensive, connected experiences across its product range.

The Redmi Note 14 Series launch represents Xiaomi’s ongoing commitment to bringing flagship features to mid-range devices, combining advanced photography capabilities, robust durability, and innovative AI features in a comprehensive smartphone package designed to meet the diverse needs of modern users.

The Pro variants lead the series with a 200MP pro-grade AI camera system featuring optical image stabilization (OIS). These models boast impressive zoom capabilities, including 2x and 4x optical-grade lossless zoom, with the ability to reach up to 30x digital zoom on both Pro models. The standard Redmi Note 14 and Note 14 5G models aren’t far behind, featuring a 108MP AI camera system. All models in the series come equipped with upgraded front cameras of at least 20MP, featuring 0.8x wide-angle zoom for improved group selfies.

Photography enthusiasts will find a comprehensive suite of creative features in the Pro models. Dynamic shots bring images to life with subtle movement, while Dual video enables simultaneous recording from front and rear cameras. The Pro variants also introduce advanced AI editing capabilities, including AI Image Expansion for background extension and AI Erase Pro for seamless object removal without third-party apps. The base models aren’t left behind, featuring AI Sky technology for easy background manipulation, making professional-level photography accessible across the entire series.

Durability stands as a cornerstone of the new series, with Xiaomi introducing what it calls an “All-Star Armor Structure” in the Pro models. This protective system combines a high-strength aluminum composite frame, energy-absorbing foam, and polymer buffering material. The Pro+ 5G and Pro 5G models feature Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 displays, with the Pro+ 5G offering either Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i or vegan leather battery cover options. The Pro models boast IP68 ratings for exceptional dust and water resistance, while the Redmi Note 14 5G features IP64 protection, and the base model comes with an IP54 rating for basic splash and dust resistance.

In terms of performance, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G showcases the global debut of the 4nm Snapdragon® 7s Gen 3 processor, paired with a robust 5110mAh battery supporting 120W HyperCharge technology. The device’s high-density battery is engineered to function in extreme conditions, maintaining operation in temperatures as low as -20°C. Other models in the series utilize MediaTek Dimensity and MediaTek Helio chipsets, with generous battery capacities ranging from 5110mAh to 5500mAh.

Battery longevity has been a key focus across the series, with all models featuring batteries designed to retain up to 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. The devices incorporate Smart Charging and big-data-based aging prediction systems to optimize charging processes and maintain battery health. Pro models include a quick turn-on function for rapid power-up after complete battery drain.

The series introduces advanced AI features, including Google Gemini integration across all models. The Pro+ 5G and Pro 5G models feature Circle to Search functionality, streamlining information access in daily use. Display technology has also seen significant improvements, with all models featuring 120Hz eye-care displays. The Pro variants elevate the visual experience with 1.5K resolution and an impressive peak brightness of 3000 nits, significantly surpassing previous generations.

Eye comfort remains a priority, with all devices receiving TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution), Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications. This comprehensive approach to eye protection makes the devices suitable for extended use, whether for work or entertainment.

The Redmi Note 14 Series is competitively priced, with the base Redmi Note 14 starting at RM 699 for the 8GB + 256GB variant. The Redmi Note 14 5G begins at RM 799, while the Pro 5G model starts at RM 1,199. The flagship Pro+ 5G is priced from RM 1,699 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. Select models feature early-bird pricing until January 24, 2025, offering additional value for early adopters.

Pre-order incentives include premium gifts worth up to RM 1,537, featuring a Limited Edition BamBam Exclusive Gift Set for selected Pro series models. Customers pre-ordering any Redmi Note 14 Pro at Xiaomi stores between January 11 to 15 will receive a free Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact, valued at RM 459, while supplies last.

The devices are available in various colours, including Lavender Purple, Frost Blue, Coral Green, and Midnight Black, depending on the model.
