BMW Group Malaysia Celebrates the Latest Generation of the BMW 5 Series at SKY5PACE

BMW Group Malaysia recently showcased its newest BMW 5 Series at the SKY5PACE event in Kuala Lumpur. The event, held against the backdrop of the city’s skyline, highlighted the automaker’s dedication to innovation and performance in the premium business sedan segment.

“The BMW 5 Series has long held a celebrated position within the BMW Group portfolio, both around the world and in Malaysia. Since its debut in 1972, the BMW 5 Series has established itself as a leader in the premium executive sedan segment. Today, with the locally assembled BMW 520i M Sport standing alongside the fully-electric BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport, we are pleased to be able to tell the successful story of the evolution of the BMW 5 Series in Malaysia. In fact, the fifth-generation BMW 5 Series was the first BMW vehicle to be assembled here in 2004, marking 20 Years of BMW Group Malaysia’s commitment to Malaysia as a hub in Southeast Asia, for the assembly of premium vehicles for the region. As it stands, BMW Group Malaysia is still the largest assembler and exporter of premium vehicles to the region with over 10,000 vehicles successfully exported since 2018.”

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia

Taking center stage was the locally assembled BMW 520i M Sport, which continues the longstanding legacy of the BMW 5 Series in Malaysia. The new variant offers a heightened sense of sportiness and style while reaffirming the BMW Group’s confidence in Malaysia’s economic growth and local assembly capabilities.

Joining the BMW 520i M Sport was the fully electric BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport with optional M Performance Parts. This model represents BMW Group Malaysia’s dedication to future mobility and technology openness, offering customers a choice of powertrains and bespoke options to personalize their BMW 5 Series.

The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport stands as an icon of modern sedan design and innovation, showcasing advanced technological features that have redefined the standards for electrified mobility in the Malaysian market. The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport on display at the SKY5PACE event was equipped with optional M Performance Parts, including a front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, exterior mirror caps, and 21-inch M Performance light alloy wheels. These options demonstrate the wide range of customization possibilities available to Malaysian customers.
