Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has introduced a reimagined line of its acclaimed Carrera Extreme Sport timepieces, marking a significant evolution in the brand’s fusion of racing heritage and cutting-edge design. The new collection, unveiled on September 5, 2024, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, comprises six models including four chronographs and two chronograph tourbillons. Building upon the series’ 2016 debut, the 2024 TAG Heuer Carrera Extreme Sport collection intensifies its connection to motorsport while incorporating advanced materials and innovative design elements. Named after the challenging Carrera Panamericana road race, these timepieces are crafted to appeal to motorsport enthusiasts and watch aficionados alike.
The new collection features several key technical advancements and design features. A redesigned case construction with integrated containers and side barrels allows for seamless material blending, while a reimagined skeleton dial with improved legibility features bold black lines and subtle nods to the brand’s iconic shield logo. An open-worked date disc is designed to evoke the interior of a high-performance engine, and a new integrated rubber strap draws inspiration from racing car air intake systems. Ergonomic improvements, including reduced case dimensions, enhance comfort during sporting activities.
TAG Heuer’s expertise in material selection and combination is evident throughout the new Carrera Extreme Sport watches. The collection features grade-2 titanium cases, ceramic bezels, 18K 5N solid rose gold elements in select models, and forged carbon components in the tourbillon models. This innovative use of materials contributes to both the aesthetic appeal and performance of the timepieces.

The four chronograph models in the collection offer diverse colour and material combinations. These include a vibrant orange-accented model with a titanium case and ceramic bezel, a blue-themed version paying homage to TAG Heuer’s iconic colour, a monochromatic black DLC-coated titanium model, and a luxury variant combining titanium, ceramic, and 18K 5N rose gold. Each model presents a unique interpretation of the Carrera Extreme Sport aesthetic.
Topping the collection are two TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport models. One features an all-black design with a forged carbon bezel, while the other is a luxurious variant with an 18K 5N solid rose gold case and black DLC-coated titanium elements. Both tourbillon models showcase TAG Heuer’s horological expertise with their intricate movements visible through skeletonized dials and open casebacks.
The chronograph models are powered by the in-house TH20-00 caliber, offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The tourbillon versions feature the advanced TH20-09 caliber, an evolution of the Heuer 02 movement, with a 65-hour power reserve. Both movements come with a 5-year warranty, underscoring TAG Heuer’s commitment to reliability and performance in the luxury watch segment.
With this new collection, TAG Heuer continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking, delivering timepieces that embody the spirit of motorsport while showcasing the brand’s dedication to innovation and craftsmanship. The 2024 Carrera Extreme Sport collection represents a bold step forward in the brand’s ongoing quest to merge high-end watchmaking with the dynamic world of motorsports, offering watch enthusiasts a range of options that combine technical excellence with striking design.
