Dassault Aviation Showcases Ultra-Long-Range Falcon 8X at Selangor Aviation Show 2024

Dassault Aviation, a prominent player in the business aviation sector, is set to make a significant appearance at the fourth edition of the Selangor Aviation Show 2024. The event, scheduled from September 12 to 14 at Subang Airport, will feature the company’s flagship ultra-long-range Falcon 8X on static display.

The Falcon 8X, renowned for its exceptional range and flexibility, stands out as a leader in the ultra-long-range business jet segment. With a maximum range of 6,450 nautical miles (11,945 km) at Mach 0.80, the aircraft can fly non-stop for up to 14 hours with 8 passengers and 3 crew members. This impressive capability allows for direct flights between key global cities such as Beijing to New York, Shanghai to Seattle, and Hong Kong to London.

“We are very happy to participate in the Selangor Aviation Show with our Falcon 8X aircraft and show our support for the growth of business aviation in Malaysia and across the region. Operators who have flown the 8X praise the unparalleled quietness, comfort and spaciousness of the cabin. The 8X also boasts superior take-off and landing performances, unlocking access to smaller island and regional airports in Malaysia and around the region.”

Jean-Michel Jacob, Asia Pacific General Manager for Dassault Falcon civil aircraft

Malaysia has emerged as Dassault Aviation’s largest market in Southeast Asia for business jets, with eight Falcon aircraft based in the country. The company has demonstrated its commitment to the region by establishing its Asia Pacific headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

One of the Falcon 8X’s standout features is its ability to access airports with shorter runways, thanks to its impressive short take-off and landing capabilities. The aircraft can operate from runways as short as 6,000 feet and approach at low speeds of 107 knots (198 kph). This versatility allows it to serve airports like London City and similar steep-approach runways located close to business destinations.

The Falcon 8X also leads in fuel efficiency, consuming up to 30% less fuel than other aircraft in its class. This efficiency doesn’t come at the cost of performance, as the aircraft can reach a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.90 and a maximum certified altitude of 51,000 feet (15,545 m).

Inside the cabin, passengers enjoy a spacious 42 ft 8 in (13 m) long environment that can be customized with a wide variety of layouts to accommodate 12-16 passengers. The cabin is known for its whisper-quiet atmosphere and superior comfort, with continuous air refreshment and a low cabin altitude of 3,900 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet.

In a recent development, Dassault Aviation expanded its presence in Malaysia by opening a new 149,500 square foot aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Subang Airport in May 2024 (read about it here: https://timchew.net/2024/05/03/execujet-mro-services-celebrates-grand-opening-of-malaysias-largest-business-aviation-mro-facility/). This state-of-the-art facility, operated by its subsidiary ExecuJet MRO Services, serves customers across Asia and as far as North Africa. With a workforce of around 100 personnel, it has become the country’s largest business aviation MRO organization.

Dassault Aviation continues to expand its maintenance, repair, and overhaul services in the Asia Pacific region, where over 100 Falcons are currently in operation. The company’s subsidiary, ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia, supports all in-production Falcon types, including the Falcon 6X, Falcon 8X, and Falcon 2000.

Visitors to the Selangor Aviation Show 2024 can view the Falcon 8X at the static display area and visit Dassault’s exhibition stand in Hall 1, Stand , where they can learn more about the aircraft’s advanced features and capabilities.
