Airbus Helicopters has secured a contract with Brunei’s Ministry of Defence for the acquisition of six H145M helicopters. These new additions will replace the outdated BO105 fleet, significantly enhancing the Brunei air force’s capabilities in close air support and aerial observation missions.
“We are greatly honoured by the selection of the H145M to support the Royal Brunei Air Force’s expanded missions. The H145M is well regarded for its high performance and versatility, and we are confident that it will bring a step change in operational readiness to Brunei.”
Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters
The H145M, a versatile military helicopter, is known for its extensive range of mission capabilities. The global fleet of H145 helicopters has logged over seven million flight hours, serving armed forces, air forces, and law enforcement agencies in various challenging operations. Brunei joins countries like Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Serbia, and Thailand in adopting the H145M for its defence needs.
Powered by twin Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145M features full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and the Helionix digital avionics suite. This suite includes an innovative flight data management system and a high-performance 4-axis autopilot, significantly reducing pilot workload during missions. The helicopter’s exceptionally low acoustic footprint makes it the quietest in its class.
The acquisition of these helicopters marks a significant step in modernising Brunei’s air force, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency and advanced technological capabilities for future missions.
