OPPO Malaysia Debuts the OPPO Reno7 Series 5G

OPPO launched the latest addition to the Reno Series, the Reno7 5G and Reno7 Pro 5G in Malaysia on 22 February 2022 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Cente. The Reno7 Series 5G is OPPO’s “portrait expert” smartphone capable of capturing DSLR-like portraits through features like Portrait Mode, Bokeh Flare Portrait Video, and more. The Reno7 Pro 5G camera capabilities are enhanced by the new Flagship Portrait Camera System built around two flagship imaging sensors- the IMX709 and the IMX766.

The OPPO Reno7 Series 5G is equipped with powerful portrait functionality with its AI-enhanced, triple, high-definition camera setup. On the back of the OPPO Reno7 5G is a 64MP HD main camera, a 118-degree 8MP Ultra Wide-Angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera which can focus on subjects as close as 4cm away, with a 32MP ultra-clear camera on the front.

The higher spec OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G features the “Flagship Portrait Camera System” which comprises of a 50MP main camera powered by a flagship IMX766 sensor with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor size and advanced technologies including All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF and DOL-HDR (Ed – yes the MP is less than the Reno7 but I believe the superior sensor makes the difference here), alongside an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a dedicated colour temperature sensor on the rear of the device. On the front, the 32MP front camera is powered by a next generation flagship RGBW sensor — the IMX709 — which has been co-developed by OPPO and Sony and makes its world debut on Reno7 Pro 5G. Thanks to these innovations, Reno7 Pro 5G with the IMX709 is able to capture 60% more light than standard RGGB sensors while reducing noise by up to 35%. This enables Reno7 Pro 5G to capture significantly clearer and brighter images in low-light conditions, making portraits more expressive in both photo and video through enhancements to skin, texture, and contrast. Together with the industry-first use of DOL-HDR on the front camera of a smartphone, Reno7 Pro 5G’s front camera enables users to capture high-quality selfie videos, and Smart Wide-angle helps to capture selfies in different situations easily.

Taking full advantage on these powerful hardware foundations, Reno7 Series 5G comes packed with a series of portrait features driven by leading AI technologies:

• Portrait Mode delivers superior portrait photos with shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh light spots in the background. Furthermore, it provides high customization of depth of field and background bokeh in portrait images for both front and rear cameras. With 25 different aperture sizes ranging from F0.95 to F16, users can creatively adjust images according to their style with the new Portrait Mode. The advanced AI algorithm is able to simulate different optical focal lengths to create a depth of field effect similar to a wide aperture DSLR lens. Portrait Mode also offers extra photo enhancement features such as detection and preservation of skin texture and skin tone, with retouching effects that deliver high quality, clear images with a natural and professional depth of field effect.

• Bokeh Flare Portrait Video brings exclusive DSLR-like portrait video capabilities to the Reno 7 Series 5G with just a few clicks. Powered by OPPO’s image processing algorithms, Bokeh Flare Portrait Video delivers real-time processing of portrait video while keeping portrait subjects appearing natural and bright. With skin tone detection and preservation further optimized, alongside an entire palette of retouching effects, users can easily create eye-catching videos with bokeh flare in the background for a look that was previously possible using large aperture DSLR camera lenses.

• AI Highlight Video can capture details in both background and foreground clearly by automatically making optimizations based on the lighting environment. The Live HDR and Ultra Night Video algorithms of AI Highlight Video are enabled automatically when shooting video on the rear camera. Users can shoot clearer, brighter, and higher-quality videos in backlit sunsets or dark cityscapes without manual adjustment.

Reno7 Series 5G is also equipped with a number of creative image features: AI Color Portrait Video can automatically detect the subject in the video and retain its full original colour while turning the rest of the image black and white; Dual-View Video shoots video from both front and rear cameras simultaneously (Ed – I love this feature); Portrait Retouching detects different people within a video and applies different retouching effects based on identified traits. Reno7 Series 5G also offers powerful imaging features in different scenarios, including Ultra Steady Video, Focus Tracking, Ultra-Clear 108MP Image, and Flash Snapshot.

The Reno7 Series 5G features an ultra-slim body, which is about 7.81 mm thick and approximately 173g in weight for the Reno7 5G, and 7.45mm thick and 180g in weight for the Reno7 Pro 5G. Both comes in two fresh colors: Startrails Blue and Starry Black for Reno7 5G whereas Startrails Blue and Starlight Black for the Reno7 Pro 5G.

Startrails Blue has been created by the innovative use of Laser Direct Imaging manufacturing process where OPPO has applied LDI processing to draw 1.2 million micro-rasters, and each raster has been created with a precision of just 20 microns, giving Startrails Blue the impression of a meteor shower gliding across the back cover of the phone. Dual-texture, dual-coating layer infuses the phone with two layers of color, giving Startrails Blue multiple dynamic color changes from cold to warm in just one-color finish.

Bringing even more light to the back cover of the Reno7 Pro 5G is the Orbit Breathing Light, an industry-first, 3D circular light surrounding the camera area. The Orbit Breathing Light gently emits light when receiving incoming calls or notifications, and is one cool feature that will make your device stand out!

On the front, the Reno7 5G equipped with 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with 90 Hz refresh rate and 180 Hz touch sampling rate, while the Reno7 Pro 5G equipped with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate. Both screens are SGS Eye Care Display Certified as a low-blue light screen, which can help to reduce eye strain during extended use and Netflix HD and Amazon Prime Video Certified that allows users to experience high quality streaming content in even greater detail.

Powered by the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G SoC and MediaTek Dimensity 1200-MAX flagship-level 5G-integrated SoC on the Reno7 5G and Reno7 Pro 5G respectively, using 6nm process technology, both devices support both 5G and Wi-Fi 6, ensuring faster connectivity during mobile gaming. In an addition to the Reno7 Pro 5G, the octa-core SoC includes an ARM Cortex-A78 core operating at up to 3GHz, delivering computing power with lower power consumption.

The Reno7 5G comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage while the Reno7 Pro 5G comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB ROM. With RAM Expansion technology developed by OPPO, this existed RAM can be further supplemented with an additional 2GB, 3GB, or 5GB of temporary RAM for Reno7 5G and additional 12GB of RAM for Reno7 Pro 5G allocated from unused ROM storage.

Both the Reno7 5G and Reno7 Pro 5G also equipped with a large 4,500 mAh battery, 65W SUPERVOOC_TM charging, Super Power Saving Mode, and Super Nighttime Standby. This enables the Reno7 Series 5G to be charged to 100% in 31 minutes.

OPPO has further optimized the Reno7 Series 5G to deliver a better all-round mobile gaming experience by integrating the upgraded HyperBoost suite of technologies: AI Frame Rate Stabilizer monitors system performance and temperature changes in real time and keeps frame rate drops at optimal values to ensure a smoother gaming experience; Quick Startup keeps frequently played games alive in the background, enabling users to jump back into a game instantly.

As part of the first series to come with all-new ColorOS 12, Reno7 Series 5G offers smart efficiency, smoothness, and strengthened privacy. With Air Gestures, users can answer and mute phone calls, or control popular apps by gesturing with their hands without touching the phone. PC Connect offers more convenient ways to work between multiple devices by seamlessly connecting Reno7 Series 5G to a PC. Once connected, files, notifications and more can be controlled between the two devices with ease.

Security is also enhanced at the operating system level on Reno7 Series 5G. Anti-Peeping for Notifications hides notification content if sensing that someone else is looking at the phone. The ultra-secure user experience has been certified by third-party organizations including ePrivacy, ISO, and TrustArc for data security protocols.

Exclusively for Reno7 5G, aided by AI System Booster resource allocation optimizations, the comprehensive aging rate of Reno7 5G is just 2.75% after 3 years of daily use, providing a smoother and faster experience for longer. This has been verified in the TÜV SÜD 36-Months’ Fluency Certification, for which Reno7 5G is the first smartphone that certified with TÜV SÜD 36-month fluency rating A. 

OPPO Watch Free

The brand-new OPPO Watch Free was officially released on 22 February 2022. This stylish and contemporary watch is the entry-level smart watch that comes with OSleep All-Scenario Sleep Monitoring, as well as professional sport modes and other health functions.

OPPO Watch Free’s OSleep All-Scenario Sleep Monitoring is able to provide professional, comprehensive, and personalized sleep monitoring and analysis for before, during, and after sleep. In particular, the exclusive snore assessment, which is supported by professional sensors and advanced algorithms, can effectively detect sleep problems, and propose suggestions in a timely manner. Its snoring evaluation algorithm will combine with continuous second level SpO2 monitoring through an optical SpO2 sensor and detect heart rate variability via its’ optical heart rate sensor. As a result, snores of the users will be recorded. For instance, OPPO Watch Free sends bedtime reminders and analyses your sleep latency, sleep duration, and sleep phases with features such as deep and light sleep analysis and rapid eye movement (REM) monitoring.

On top of that, OPPO Watch Free has a built-in 6-axis motion sensor and an optical heart rate sensor to support over 100 sport modes. Using algorithms, the sensors automatically identify different sport modes. Additionally, OPPO Watch Free supports 24-hour heart rate monitoring, which records the heart rate around the clock and warns the user with vibration when irregular heartbeat is detected.

OPPO Watch Free also has a long battery life of 14 days. Just 5 minutes of charging will get you a full day of use. It is an extension of your phone as it equipped with a range of convenience features such as Message Notifications, Incoming Call Notifications, Call Rejection, Find My Phone, and Music Playback Control.

OPPO Enco Air2

OPPO also launched the OPPO Enco Air2 in Malaysia. The Enco Air2 adopts a 13.4mm composite titanized diaphragm driver, which provides deep, powerful bass, crystal-like midrange, and silvery treble. The earbuds are also built with a bass booster to further enhance their bass performance. Each earbud only weighs 3.5g which places it among the top end of the industry in terms of weight.

Thanks to the efforts of the OPPO Blu-ray Team, the OPPO Enco Air2 provides users with balanced audio and two brand new Enco Live sound effects: Bass Boost and Clear Vocals.
