Jio at The Roof, First Avenue Bandar Utama

I recently headed to Jio at The Roof Bandar Utama (located at First Avenue Bandar Utama) to try their Valentine’s Day 3-course dinner buffet which is priced at RM490++ per couple, and will be available on 13 and 14 February 2022. This special Valentine’s Day menu at Jio at The Roof will also feature live music performances, as well as fireworks at Stratosphere to set a romantic atmosphere.

The concept for the Valentine’s Day dinner at Jio at The Roof is somewhat different from other restaurants as it combines semi-buffet with a choice of a main for each person. This is ideal for big eaters like me and for those who like a variety of food.

The interior of Jio at The Roof provides a suitable backdrop for Valentine’s Day dinners and dating/ celebrations in Petaling Jaya. In fact, the evening we were there, there was a couple at the next table on a romantic date, as well as multiple birthday dinners!

My suggestion is that you book early and request a window table that overlooks Damansara.

The semi-buffet will encompass the appetisers and desserts. This mushroom soup is one of the popular dishes from Signature at The Hill and is one of my favourites. There’s just something so heartwarming and comforting about this soup. There will also be other appetisers such as salads, tapas, etc. etc.

Mains (choice of): Cheese Baked Lobster
Lobster, scallop, prawn, and caviar served with pasta marinara. This dish was simply loaded with umami flavours of the sea!

Black Angus Ribeye
Cooked to a tender medium, atop a bed of silky smooth mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. This was certainly a hearty dish! (Just go easy on the roasted garlic!)

Baked Salmon & Scallop with Black Caviar
Perfectly cooked salmon, scallop, prawn topped with ebiko and black caviar, on a bed of asparagus. This was another seafood main dish that was bursting with umami flavours, and this main was actually my favourite main of the menu even though I usually prefer beef over seafood! (Yes, I was quite surprised with my choice too!)

Some of the desserts that will be available on 13 and 14 February 2022! I really enjoyed the chocolate brownie!

This was actually pretty good and most importantly – not overly sweet! Good combination of rich and piquant flavours!

Don’t forget to snap a photo with your partner. This is what I personally think is the best angle but it can be rather challenging as this is the main walkway and there will usually be people in the background.

The welcome snack is crispy keropok with the hotel’s signature sambal merah and sambal hijau. Both went exceeding well with the keropok and was incredibly addictive. You can also bring home some sambal as they are sold in jars.

Mango Salsa Scallop

Sweet, tender seared sea scallop topped with salmon roe & spicy mango salsa

The scallop was nicely cooked and juicy. The heat from the spicy mango salsa is really something! Not for the uninitiated!

Smoked Crab in Beet Soup

A smooth, roasted beetroot soup served with sweet, smoked crab meat

This was my favourite dish of the evening and my partner was also impressed. The combination of pretty presentation and sweet umami and seafood flavours from the smoked crab was balanced out perfectly by the beet soup.

Grilled, tender Sabah Spiny Lobster served with nasi briyani, pineapple pajeri and The Chow Kit’s signature house-made sambal merah

The Chow Kit’s signature sambals made an appearance again and I found myself not leaving any behind!

Grilled beef tenderloin seasoned with garlic & rosemary, served with creamy mash potatoes & rosemary jus

Giant Grouper with Nasi Ulam

Pan seared giant grouper with crispy skin, served with nasi ulam, turmeric gravy and The Chow Kit’s signature sambal merah

The X70 Pro and X70 models are available in Cosmic Black or Aurora Dawn. Cosmic Black is inspired by the eternal vigour and exuberant vitality of our universe, a colour symbolic of vast and deep darkness dotted by glittering silver hues to represent the stars during a pitch-black night. Aurora Dawn pays homage to the iridescent radiance of the Northern Lights in the polar sky.
