vivo has officially introduced the vivo V23e and V23e 5G smartphone to the Malaysian market earlier this month. The new offering aims to provide users with a superior selfie photography experience with its front camera and improved AI technology that offers a combination of functionality and style.

The vivo V23e 5G caters to different selfie needs and also seeks to provide a quality photography experience for users. The series is vivo’s (mid-range smartphone) answer to users’ ever-growing demand for a better selfie photography experience – particularly in capturing portraits with natural aesthetics and clarity.
The series combines vivo’s advanced front camera system with the latest technology such as its autofocus and night portrait features to capture photos and videos. The vivo V23e 5G also features vivo’s new Natural Portrait mode that pushes the boundaries of capturing self-expression. Powered by enhanced AI algorithms, it allows users to capture more facial details in their selfies (Ed – As I’m currently using the vivo X70 Pro, I can attest to the amazing selfie AI capabilities of vivo smartphones, which never fails to please the fairer sex).
In terms of clarity, the V23e 5G is fitted with 44MP AF Front Camera that enables users to capture clear selfies with sharp focus, regardless of the distance of the subject, while the V23e is fitted with an advanced 50MP AF Front Camera that produces selfies with rich colours in high clarity. Both devices feature the industry-leading Eye Autofocus that tracks eyes with high precision, ensuring clear and expressive selfies that keep users in the spotlight.
The Multi-Style Portrait mode allows users to add further enhancements to their images via filters, colour tone fine-tuning, and bokeh effects, opening multiple creative possibilities for the perfect selfie.
The vivo V23e 5G includes the Dual-View Video feature (Ed – I really like this feature!) that enables simultaneous video recording across both front and rear cameras, perfect for capturing video stories from different perspectives. The upgraded Double Exposure mode now allows users to import background photos into other visuals.
As an industry-leading brand for mobile photography (which is really pretty impressive thanks to vivo’s partnership with Zeiss), the vivo V23e 5G also excels in the rear camera department. The vivo V23e 5G comes equipped with a triple 50MP + 8MP + 2MP rear camera set up while the vivo V23e comes with a powerful 64MP + 8MP + 2MP set up, emphasizing vivo’s determination to further improve users’ experience in photography. The 50MP main camera on the vivo V23e 5G and 64MP main camera on the vivo V23e aims to provide users with a quality (smartphone) photography experience.
Catering to various photography needs, the 8MP 120-degree ultra wide-angle camera allows users to easily capture group photos, wonderful natural landscapes or classic architecture. Exploration to the tiny worlds is also possible with more clarity via the 2MP macro camera. Together with dual camera bokeh, both devices are able to highlight the subject and process the background light source in night scenes to simulate the dreamy and delicate flare bokeh effect of professional cameras. The Ultra Stabilisation mode also eliminates shaky videos and blurry photos, providing a steady experience for the viewer.

Measuring just 7.36mm for Moonlight Shadow while 7.41mm for Sunshine Coast, the new V23e 5G boasts an ultra-slim body, making it solid yet light-weight at only 172 grams. The 2.5D flat frame design is the product of an innovative design and advanced production process, where the frame is treated with an innovative slim plating process to produce a sleek and classy finish.
The series comes in a range of classy colour designs, displaying a masterclass in craftsmanship and artistic style. The V23e 5G and V23e come in two unique colours – Sunshine Coast, Moonlight Shadow.
The Sunshine Coast edition in both smartphones sport a new Dual-Layer Coating for a premium look, which radiates a spectrum of colours from different angles on top of its enhanced fashionable style, which combines technology and nature, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to user-centric design. The Moonlight Shadow edition features an innovative ceramic film coating that creates a nano-grade texture on the surface with a mirror finished over a classic shade of black.
Running on Funtouch OS 12 as vivo’s wider efforts to continuously upgrade the operating system that caters to individual user needs, the V23e 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset, which features an integrated design with more stable circuitry and lower power consumption, supporting SA & NSA dual-mode 5G networks as well as 5G+5G dual-SIM standby. It sports a 6.44 inch AMOLED display which is pretty much the standard size for mid-range smartphones these days.
Packed with a 4,050mAh battery, the V23e 5G is equipped with a 44W FlashCharge, powering the device from 1% to 69% in just 30 minutes. For a smooth entertainment experience, the V23e 5G offers an 8GB + 4GB RAM experience with the new Extended RAM 2.0, which allows 4GB of memory to be used as RAM whenever necessary. Both devices are available in 128GB memory. The Hi-Res Certification on the V23e series for music and original sound reproduction offers users higher audio quality.
The V23e 5G and V23e are now available at RM1,599 and RM1,399 respectively, and is available at vivo concept stores, on the vivo official E-store, E-commerce partners including Lazada and Shopee, vivo authorised dealers and collaboration partners such as Chan Furniture, Courts, Harvey Norman, Lulu, Senheng, Sentriq, senQ, Thundermatch and Urban Republic, will receive an Automatic Soap Dispenser Gift Box, 1-Year Extended Warranty, and 1-Year Screen Crack Protection worth RM518.
