The Macallan Introduces the Double Cask 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old in Malaysia

The Macallan launched the Double Cask 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old with an exclusive preview on 5 October 2020 at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, where guests were brought through a journey to experience how The Macallan Double Cask harmoniously united the best of two worlds to create a distinctive single malt.

The night, graced by notable personalities in the community includes Genting Malaysia’s senior vice president of leisure and hospitality development and Dream Cruises’ Vice President Loui Lim, Director of EDC International and Interior Designer Koh Li Tim, actress and TV personalities Jojo Goh and Lynn Lim, entrepreneur Roen Cian and his wife, the former Miss Universe of Malaysia Carey Ng, model and embroidery artist Sheena Liam and actor Eden See Yu.

The preview showcased The Macallan’s extraordinary wood journey where guests journeyed through an exclusive contemporary photography exhibition chronicling the story from the vast green forest of Northern Spain, the source of European oak to Pennsylvania to explore the influence of American oak through the lens of award-winning photographer Steve McCurry.

A special cocktail workshop was conducted by Boon Leong, the Food & Beverages Quality Manager of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur and the resident hotel bartender who demonstrated creative cocktail ideas featuring The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old.

The journey ended with an elaborated whisky and food pairing session where guests dined to a series of curated menu designed by The Brasserie at the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur and paired with both the Double Cask 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old. Highlights of the menu included the Homemade Beetroot Gravlax Norwegian Salmon, Smoked Australian Lamb Loin, Smoked Wagyu Short Ribs and more. And a special sharing by Jeremy Lee, the brand ambassador of The Macallan who highlighted the heritage and journey of the Double Cask as it expanded to introduce its 15 Years Old and 18 Years Old whiskies and how to enjoy the full whisky flavours.

“To experience the full whisky flavour, one must slowly indulge in The Macallan Double Cask. A sip of The Macallan Double 15 Years Old, will give you a golden butterscotch hue with a warm and creamy mouthful finish, whereas The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old will exude rich amber honey tone with a warm oak spice finish accompanied with citrus flavours of sweet orange,” quoted Jeremy Lee, Brand Ambassador of The Macallan.
