Casual Dining Drinks

Wines by W Wine & Liquor Warehouse Puchong at Bottle & Boar Subang Jaya

[Event]

Brigette and I recently headed over to Bottle & Boar in Subang Jaya to try out their dishes together with some wines from W Wine Warehouse. Bottle and Boar is the newest addition to the Jarrod & Rawlins’ group, and is the culmination of over a decade of running successful restaurants and pubs.

Bottle and Boar is a casual place to grab a drink with friends and family any day of the year. Located right smack on what is currently known as Japanese row, Bottle and Boar changes the composition of the street immediately.

Two complete floors were designed to let diners relax over a couple of drinks (or ten) while not having to listen to the conversation beside you. The establishment kept the seating very loose opting instead for a layout that lets you have your own space. That said, there is capacity for about 140 people that can choose from high tables on the ground floor or dining tables on the first floor. If you prefer standing or sitting at a bar, there are dozens of seats along possibly the longest bar in Subang Jaya on the first floor.

The alcoholic beverages are affordably priced with prices starting with a mug of beer at RM10 nett all day, every day. To complement the drinks, there is also signature great comfort food from the other outlets in the group, as well as a number of twisted versions of local dishes that have been selected to go well with the food.

Bottle and Boar is non-halal with many dishes featuring pork although other meats are available too. Bottle and Boar also exclusively uses the most premium sausages, burgers and pies from Jarrod & Rawlin’s sister companies Rawlins and Victoria Crest.

As parking along that row can be a bit challenging in the evening, you would be glad to know that the establishment provides free car jockey service for diners.

There is a large wine selection available, of which many labels are supplied by W Wine Warehouse.

British phone booth
A very British prop which was converted to store liquor bottles!
While downstairs consisted of high tables and the bar, upstairs was more conducive for having a meal with the low tables and chairs. You can also watch sports matches on the TVs while enjoying your food.

Some of the wines from W Wine Warehouse that are popular among patrons at Bottle and Boar. We opted to try the 2010 Chateau Ramage La Batisse.

This wine is fleshy and pleasing, having beautiful complex and refined nose with ripe fruit, woody notes and notes of scented rose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, succulent with an elegant tannic structure, length, freshness and a nice balance.

Black Pudding Wantons with Apple Sauce – RM11.30

Perfect for grazing over some drinks. Black pudding is a rather rare sausage here in Malaysia hence I was quite surprised to find it here. It has a strong earthy and mineral taste which provides a great depth of flavours however it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Luckily, I really love things like black pudding (and even haggis although it’s so rare here) so I enjoyed this very fusion dish.

Mantau Bun and Pulled Pork Board – RM30.20

Another East meets West dish that worked very well! A do it yourself dish where you get to assemble your own little “sandwich”.

Pork Sliders with Cheese – RM18.90

Woo hoo! More pork! Really thick mini pork patties topped with melted cheese in between fluffy buns. Another good for snacking dish!

Black Pudding and Bacon Fried Rice – RM23.60

Could you get any more sinful than this? A very porky fried rice that went wonderfully well with the spicy chilli on the side. A very hearty dish indeed!

Pork Chop on the Bone – RM34.50

A massive (minimum 450gm) pork chop which was juicy and very flavourful! This has to be one of the best main dishes at Bottle and Boar hands down! Hearty enough to be shared among two pax. This dish went really well with the red wine!

Rack of Hickory Baby Back Ribs – RM83.00 (for a full rack)

Basted with Bottle and Boar’s own coffee and chippotle sauce and served with fries and coleslaw.

This was another dish that went wonderfully well with the 2010 Chateau Ramage La Batisse. The full rack is certainly big enough to share among two or even three diners! The lovely smoky, tangy and slightly spicy sauce imparted lots of flavours to the tender ribs. A must-try here if you love pork ribs!

Vanilla & Chocolate Ice Cream on a Stick – RM14.50

Home made with Tahitian vanilla bean and Belgian dark and milk chocolate

What a decadent dessert indeed! It’s like an amped up Magnum ice cream (which really can’t compare to this) with lovely rich dark Belgian chocolate and really flavourful vanilla ice cream!

Rum & Raisin Ice Cream – RM13.70

Plump California raisins soaked in dark Jamaican rum for 24 hours then churned in a vanilla based custard infused with more dark rum.

Ice cream for adults! Easily one of the best rum and raisin ice creams I’ve ever eaten! Creamy, with the flavours of the raisins, and elevated by the dark rum. Nothing commercial comes anywhere close!
