H&M announced that the next exclusive designer collaboration will be with ERDEM, the London based designer who’s popular with celebrities and fashion insiders alike. H&M will also engage the visionary film maker Baz Luhrmann to bring the collection to life through his unique storytelling.

For H&M, Erdem has designed a brand-new collection for women and, for the first time ever, a collection for men. Erdem believes in the power of beauty, exploring historical references and personal narratives in every piece he makes. For ERDEM x H&M he’ll reflect and reinterpret the design themes from some of his most celebrated collections, playing with the prints, textiles and delicate craftsmanship that have made his name.

“I am so happy to collaborate with H&M, and to explore my work on a whole new scale including a menswear collection which I have never done before. It’s also such a thrill to work with Baz Luhrmann, one of the most important storytellers of our time,” says Erdem.

“For me fashion is always about more than just clothing, it is a form of expression – a stand-alone art form. I am excited to be collaborating with ERDEM and H&M to reveal the story of this unique collection,” says Baz Luhrmann.

“From the moment we started talking with Erdem about the collaboration, I was captured by his vision. For ERDEM x H&M he has created an enchanting world full of beauty, delicacy and rich details. These are special pieces you will want to wear forever,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Advisor.

ERDEM x H&M will be available in selected stores as well as on hm.com, from 2 November 2017.

Grand Launch of MBO Cinemas The Starling

MHB’s Andy Kho and me with our respective partners attended the MBO Cinemas Grand Launch of their flagship cinema MBO Starling on 11th July 2017. MBO Cinemas already has 27 cinemas nationwide, however organised a grand red carpet do for the launch of their flagship outlet – MBO The Starling. The event which was entitled “MBO Stellar Night” saw invited members of the Malaysian entertainment industry, media and VIPs attend the cocktail reception before the movie premiere of “War for the Planet of the Apes”, and after-party featuring celebrity deejays, DJ Tiana, Pat K and Joey G.

Chief Executive Officer of MBO, Mr. Lim Eng Hee, who officiated the launch, spoke of his inspiration behind the new MBO, saying, “We built MBO Starling with the intention of changing how the cinematic industry was presented to the consumers; we wanted to create a cinema that could provide a more immersive, and a more holistic experience compared to what has been presented the to the consumers in the same way for the last decade.”

Celebrities in attendance included Qi Razali, Sharifah Armani, Megan Tan, Remy Ishak, Siti Saleha and Adrian Teh. The MBO Starling cinema hall was converted into a club-like atmosphere with lots of “apes” in suits as well as DC superheroes mingling around for guests to take photos with. My fav part was that we could order anything we wanted from the Snack Bar, while the girls were excitedly helping themselves at the candy booth. Of course, the free flow of bubbly, wine and beer also helped to set the mood and add to the party atmosphere!

MBO Starling has Big Screen and Premiere movie halls, MBO Kecil – a cinema hall dedicated to young children, and MX4D – an immersive cinema hall where moviegoers not only get to watch the movie, but get to be a part of the movie thanks to the built in motion and effects which are synced to the on-screen actions.
