Launch of Mezzanine Bar & Lounge Pullman KLCC Hotel

[Event/ Hotel Happenings]

Kassey and I headed over to Pullman KLCC Hotel for the “Artist Playground” cocktail on 12 April 2017 which was in conjunction with the launch of their newly refurbished Mezzanine Bar & Lounge. The lounge is a stopover for casual meetings or fresh drinks in an open and relaxed setting complete with comfortable armchairs that overlook the bustling ground floor below which houses the hotel lobby and all-day-dining restaurant.

Mezzanine Bar & Lounge has Happy Hour from 5.00pm to 8.00pm daily, where you get two (2) drinks for the price of one (1) on all house brands which includes Sparkling – El Resso Cava (Spain), Rose – Grant Burge Benchmark (Australia), Sauvignon Blanc – Kim Crawford (New Zealand), Chardonnay – Kidia (Chile), Riesling – Wente Riverbank (USA), Malbec – El Regreso (Argentina), Shiraz – Mount Langi Ghiran Bili Bili (Australia), Merlot – Norton Barrel Select (Argentina), Cabernet Sauvignon – Chateau Los Boldos (Chile), Tiger draught beer [330ml], Beefeater, Absolut, Bacardi White/ Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila, Ballantine’s, or Jim Beam White.

There’s also a decent selection of wines (apart from those mentioned above) which you can match with cheese & cold cuts on the deli board, while whisky aficionados would enjoy the Whisky Bar which has over 100 varieties of whisky, available by glass and bottle, as well as a premium selection of cigars.

The lounge has a different exhibition every month, with an art exhibition featuring works by local artists on display during the launch

We got to try some of the offerings including freshly shucked oysters!
Fresh shrimp waiting to be turned into Gambaspilpil – a spicy shrimp item which is part of the tapas menu
The cheese board
Lots of cold cuts

Head Chef Fong showing off the delicious pizzas!

I enjoyed myself during the cocktail so much that I decided to head back and try some of other items on the menu while waiting out the crazy Friday evening jam outside. This time though, I brought my partner in crime with me.

The bar

There was a different exhibit this time round
The whisky bar which has dark comfy sofas

The selection of whiskies
Pair your whisky with a cigar!
Back in the lounge section there are wine chillers stocked with both old and new world wines

We opted for the cava as my partner in crime loves bubbly

Choice of 4 cheeses / 4 cold cuts / condiments

Select from fourme d’ambert, gouda cheddar, manchego, mariotte brie, vieux porche, emmental, comte, cheese in olive oil, blue cheese pena santa, goat cheese, queso de cabra and reblochon de savoie.

Select your cold cuts from a choice of turkey chorizo, turkey salchichon – turkey pechuga, dried beef cecina, duck ham “ jamon de pato”, salmon gravlax and smoked chicken breast.

This was great for slow grazing with some wine or in our case some bubbly. Only opt for the goats/ bleu cheese if you’re a hardcore cheese lover (like me!) or else go for the milder cheeses.

Salmon Pizza – RM4O.00

Smoked salmon / mozzarella cheese / fresh arugula

This was surprisingly good! Quite unexpected for a non-Italian restaurant. A lovely sauce brought together the smoked salmon, fresh arugula and gooey cheese!

Tuna Ceviche – RM35.00

Japanese maguro fish, coriander leaves, lemon juice, ginger, furikake cracker

Something on the fresh side. This went beautifully with the cava! The flavours of the tuna were enhanced by the lemon juice while the ginger gave it a slight bite.

Gambaspilpil – RM30.00

Shrimps, chilli flakes, garlic, parsley, with baguette

This one went well with the toasted sliced baguette that came with the dish. The juicy and spicy shrimp were most appetising and I believe that this dish would go really well with beer (although with the cava it was pretty good too)!

Albondigas – RM45.00

Ground beef meatballs, red pepper, mozzarella cheese, cilantro

Something for a meat lover like me! A traditional Spanish recipe of meatballs in a tomato based sauce with red peppers, smothered with cheese and sprinkled with cilantro. A very hearty dish!

Instead of ordering the tapas a la carte, you can also opt for the Tapas Promo which is great for larger groups:

  • Choose 3 tapas for RM75
  • Choose 5 tapas for RM125
  • Choose 7 tapas for RM175

*All prices are inclusive of 6% GST

Thanks for having us!

All in all, Mezzanine Bar & Lounge is a nice place to chill over some tapas and wine, or have happy hour, or even try out some whiskies. The lounge is a non-smoking area, however you can smoke in the whisky + cigar bar room. There is a live band entertaining guests with some new as well as classic tunes, adding to the relaxing ambience of the lounge.
