DJ Alexisgrace and I headed over to The Bar Kinugawa, in Empire Damansara, Damansara Perdana on 28 November 2016 for a very special Glenlivet Guardians blind tasting and cocktail session. The Bar Kinugawa though is pretty hard to find but once you find it you’ll be welcomed by the warm and cosy interior as well as whiskies and cocktails galore!

For this Glenlivet Guardians session, we were given four (4) different types of whiskies to taste. After tasting all and after much deliberation among ourselves, our hosts finally revealed the variants which included The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve which was just launched last month (read about that here – https://timchew.net/2016/11/16/glenlivet-founders-reserve-launched-in-malaysia/).

Turns out that I really liked the Founder’s Reserve in the blind test something that didn’t surprise me too much as I quite enjoyed it at the launch. However this time it was pitted against three other whiskies including The Glenlivet 12, and Chivas Extra and 18 (which are also owned by Pernod Ricard). After the blind tasting, we also got to try some whisky cocktails specially made with The Glenlivet whiskies.

Johnnie Walker Gold Label: The Celebration Lounge at Fuze Club KL

On babysitting duty as I’ve cut down on clubbing unless it’s work related like this one. Johnnie Walker Gold Label is a celebratory drink that aims to bring people together to enjoy life and achievements and they threw a party at Fuze Club KL on 15 December 2016 with a special appearance by DJ Nervo on the decks. I do miss the good ol’ days of the Johnnie Walker Black Circuit parties however with budget cuts and a dismal economy I guess we’ll just have to contend with smaller scale activations such as this one.

Whoosh Eyewear – a sister brand of Focus Point, hosted their first ever Miss Whoosh Glamorous at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara on 16 December 2016. The event was to present the subsidiary title to the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2016.

“Fast. Fresh. Forward” is how Whoosh eyewear describes itself and it aims to satisfy trendsetters who value style, quality, and professional advice on-the-go. Whoosh Eyewear unveiled a series of 80 pairs of latest trendy glasses, which were showcased by the Miss Tourism International World Pageant finalists. The winner of the Miss Woosh Glamorous subsidiary title was selected based on their beauty, grace and presence on the stage, and walked away with the ambassadorship for Whoosh.

“We are very honoured to collaborate with D’Touch International Sdn Bhd, the organiser of the Miss Tourism International World Pageant, to bring to you these beautiful delegates from all over the world who each carry with them a strong message of peace, goodwill and understanding,” said Dato’ Liaw Choon Liang, President  and CEO of Focus Point Holdings Berhad.
