Gobo Chit Chat – Level 5

Nicole, Pearl and I headed over to Gobo Chit Chat which is the hotel’s all day dining restaurant for a preview of their Christmas buffet dinner. Gobo Chit Chat features a wide selection of contemporary Western and Asian cuisines and even has a sushi bar.  It can seat 215 guests and is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The seafood at Gobo Chit Chat is very fresh and is refilled continuously while the sushi and sashimi bar has more than adequate varieties. The girls of course went crazy with all the desserts while I was more interested in the roasted and grilled meats section.

Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill – Level 6

Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill features grilled steaks, meats and fresh seafood with a great view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the surrounding areas. The lounge offers a beverage menu, with cocktails being the specialty, where you can have an aperitif before dinner or a digestif after. Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill seats 70 pax. The lounge is open daily from 10:00am to 1:00am, while the grill is open for lunch, Mondays to Fridays, from 12 noon to 2:30pm, and daily for dinner from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.

Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur

 

Vivian and I headed over to TEMPTationS in Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel for the preview of their Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet which is priced at RM135nett per person on Christmas Eve and RM155 per person on New Year’s Eve. Look out for dishes from the East and West as well as local delights and seasonal specialties. Highlights of the buffet include the whole roasted turkey with stuffing and the accompanying trimmings as well as cranberry and giblet sauce, Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, Cod in mustard sauce, Chocolate Cherry Yule Log and a lot more. Vivian was pretty enthralled by the giant macaron tower while I headed for the sushi bar.

On Christmas and New Year’s Day, TEMPTationS Restaurant will be having an Asian and Western inspired Long Lunch Buffet which is priced at RM122nett per person. Highlights of the buffet include our Signature salmon rock salt with dill cream sauce and Roasted sirloin of beef with black pepper sauce & mustard at the carving station as well as a kid’s station offering Mini pizza, Mini burger, Spiral potatoes, Gingerbread man, assorted Christmas cookies and chocolate.

 

 

The hotel’s Japanese restaurant – Sagano has been reopened and they will be offering lunch and dinner buffets which are priced at RM126nett for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Dinner Buffet, and RM146nett per person for the New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet. Look out for Japanese fare ranging from delicious miso soup and crunchy tempura to fresh sashimi plus fresh oysters and prawns, Japanese noodles, sizzling Teppanyaki and lots more.

Vogue Café has also been reopened after a spell closed for renovation and is still the place to enjoy Western favorites and signature regional specials as well as seafood on ice. The buffet is priced at RM114nett person for the Lunch Buffet on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, while the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Dinner Buffets are priced at RM135nett per person.

You can also takeaway special gourmet yuletide fare prepared by the chefs at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Priced at RM120nett per kg (4 to 5 kg per bird), the Roasted whole turkey comes with Waldorf salad, choice of 2 sauces from Cranberry, Giblet, Honey mustard or Red wine and 4 trimmings as well as a Christmas stollen. These turkeys are available for order from 25 November 2015 onwards at the DeliCorner.

Ring in the New Year rings at the Concourse Area of the hotel’s Convention Center from 9.30pm onwards. Diners at any of Renaissance’s Restaurants on New Year’s Eve will receive complimentary entry to the party. For non-diners, the ticket is priced at RM125nett per person inclusive of a drink, party pack and a light midnight supper.

Janet and I headed over to the Westin Kuala Lumpur on 9 December 2016 for their Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Westin KL’s Christmas Tree stands at 16 feet high in front of the porte-cochère with a somewhat non-traditional design with dreamy pastel ornaments. The lighting ceremony was officiated by the General Manager, Mr Ko Van Den Hil and signified the commencement of the joyous festive celebrations at The Westin Kuala Lumpur.

Latin Indulgence at Qba Bar & Grill

 

Jessica and I headed over to Qba Bar & Grill at The Westin Kuala Lumpur for a preview of their Christmas and NYE all-you-can-eat Brazilian Churrascaria buffet spread that comes with a selection of grilled meat and seafood. Qba has been a Spanish/ Latin food and entertainment mainstay located in the heart of vivacious Bukit Bintang for many years and for this Christmas and NYE goes Brazilian in traditional Churrasco fashion, within a charming Havana architecture, pre-Castro nostalgic interior and complementing live Latin rhythms.

The Churrascaria buffet spread features selection of beautifully grilled premium cuts of beef, lamb, chicken, sausages and seafood such as snapper, sea bass, prawn, and scallop. The meat cuts and seafood are pre-marinated with traditional Latin herbs that impart tangy, fresh and garlicky flavours.

Chef de Cuisine of Qba, Chef Najmuddin added numerous festive dishes to complement the carnivorous feast such as the Forbidden Black Rice Salad with sea salt, garlic, coriander, mango and mint, Sopa de Camarão (coconut shrimp soup), Picada Kebab de Cordero (minced lamb kebab) and Black Cigar, a dessert with 64% chocolate hazelnut rice crispy, raspberry pearl and elderflower sherbet.

Waiters come around your table with the skewered meats, and would serve slice the meat onto your diner’s plate. Honestly this was pretty much heaven for a meat lover like myself, while Jessica really enjoyed the seafood. Like your red meats medium rare like me? Well just ask the waiter to cut you a more pinkish piece! Prefer something a little more cooked? Get them to cut you a piece on the outer layer which will have more doneness.

There are also soups and salads and side dishes like plaintain and beetroot chips, buttered corn on the cob, breads, creamy mashed potatoes, black bean stew, ceviche and many more to accompany your meats.
