Adrienne and I headed over to Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel where Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin and his team have come up with special festive menus featuring the finest flavours of Cantonese cuisine in conjunction with Chinese New Year. This limited time menu includes festive favourites from Treasure Pot or Poon Choi to luxurious Set Menus and Dim Sum selection as well as Claypot Waxed Meat Rice and the prosperity Yee Sang.

Chef Kok has created 7 festive set menus suitable for 2 persons and groups of 5, 6 or 10 persons which focuses on the use of traditional ingredients while emphasizing light and fresh flavours.

 

 

Dynasty Restaurant offers 6 types of Yee Sang – Fruity Fiesta, Salmon, Salmon and Smoked Salmon, Lobster and Salmon, Mini Abalone and Salmon, and Three Treasure accompanied with crunchy vegetables, crackers and condiments.The Yee Sang available in “half serving” and “full serving” and you can either opt to dine in or take-away the Yee Sang.

   

Another popular dish at Chinese New Year reunion dinners is the Treasure Pot or Poon Choi that is stacked with layer upon layer of premium ingredients such as whole sun-dried scallop, Fish maw, Stuffed dried oyster, Whole abalone, Money bag, Sea cucumber, Tiger prawns, Portions of suckling pig, Coral clam, Goose web and a lot more. Suitable for 5 persons, the Prosperity Treasure Pot is priced at RM398nett and the Golden Prosperity Abalone Treasure Pot is RM888nett.

 

 

Another festive favourite is the Clay Pot Waxed Meat Rice also known as “Lap Mei Fan” which is a classic Chinese New Year dish that is priced at RM39nett per portion at Dynasty.  This is one of my all time favourite Chinese dishes however as preserved meats are not the most healthy for you, I only have this dish during Chinese New Year. The preserved meats at Dynasty are really delicious though making the lap mei fan here one of the best I’ve eaten.

Dynasty Chinese Restaurant also let us try a whole bunch of their signature dishes besides their lap mei fan!
