Headed over to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 17 November 2015 for the lighting ceremony of Asia’s tallest Swarovski Chrismas tree and Pavilion KL’s Christmas promotion entitled “Christmas Sparkles”. The event was held in partnership with Swarovski, with the main highlight and centre of attraction at the event being Swarovski’s 23 meter tall Christmas tree that was inspired by the brand’s Christmas Collection with Miranda Kerr.

The tree is made up entirely of crystal strands, the tree sparkles and shines with more than 3,100 crystal strands, having a total of 174,853 pieces of individual crystals. The tree is valued at approximately RM3 million, it is the very first Swarovski Christmas tree in Malaysia and also the tallest Swarovski Christmas tree in Asia.

 

 

Professional pianist, Charmaine Lai, greeted guests with beautiful Christmas carols, afterwhich violinist, Josh Kua gave a rousing performance accompanied by a fashion show with models displaying the latest fashion collection by renowned fashion designer Khoon Hooi and showcasing the Swarovski Fall/Winter 2015 collection.

 

 

The event was hosted by the beautiful and multi-talented, Deborah Henry, and was attended by Ms. Joyce Yap, CEO of Retail, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Mr. Aymeric Lacroix, Managing Director of Swarovski, Consumer Goods Business, South East Asia who officiated the event by lighting up the Swarovski Christmas tree with a colourful confetti burst putting everyone in a sparkling and joyous festive mood.

Ms. Joyce Yap expressed that the partnership with Swarovski was made with the intention of allowing all shoppers to experience a Christmas that fosters sparkling memories of joy and hope, in-line with the traditional significance of Christmas. “Christmas is always highly anticipated because of the feel-good factor that comes with the celebration. Through our partnership with Swarovski, we offer our shoppers the invaluable experience of witnessing the tallest Swarovski Christmas tree in Asia. As an award-winning mall, we will continue to present first-of-its-kind experiences to our shoppers that set us apart from others. A big thank you as well to our banking partner, Maybank, whose support made this celebration possible.”

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Aymeric Lacroix said, “We are extremely delighted to unveil the Swarovski Christmas Tree, the tallest indoor Christmas tree in Asia and we are very proud to collaborate with Pavilion Kuala Lumpur during this holiday season. This is truly an exciting moment for Swarovski as it has always been our vision to bring amazing technical innovations and creative collaborations to life. During this festival period, our aim is to ignite the joyful spirit of Christmas in everyone.”

 

 

Founder of the Malaysia Book of Records, Tan Sri Danny Ooi was also in attendance to present Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with an award that recognised its Christmas tree as the Tallest Swarovski Christmas tree in Malaysia.

The event ended with a flash mob performance to the song ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams where over 500 fans of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur took part in the dance, an initiative by the mall to engage with its fans during this season of joy.  The eye-catching performance which extended to three floors above the Centre Court, grabbed the attention of many shoppers in the mall.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur will have a variety of activities and performances held throughout the celebration period. This includes the Sparkling Pavilion Express train rides, the very thoughtful ‘Dear Santa’ mailbox where shoppers can mail a postcard to Santa himself, and the magical snowfall at the Bukit Bintang entrance. Shoppers will also get to bring home a Swarovski Crystal Pen when they charge RM1,000 to their Maybank Charge/Credit Card.
