Huawei through its sub-brand Honor launched their new flagship Honor 6 in Kuala Lumpur on 27 September 2014 together with a new tablet – the Honor Tablet. The Honor 6 was first launched in Beijing in June, and garnered 7.7 million pre-orders in China during a span of mere five days.
The Honor 6 is equipped with Huawei’s proprietary processor – the Kirin 920, an octa-core LTE Cat6 chipset, 3GB RAM and 16G ROM. The operating system is Android’s 4.4.2 KitKat coupled with Honor’s EMUI 2.3, and coupled with the hardware, makes playing high-definition games, or multitasking between numerous applications fast and seamless for users.
The device measures 139.6mm in length, 69.7mm in width and 7.5mm in thickness, and comes with curved edges and a body ratio of 75.7%, making it slimmer, and easier to operate with one hand. The unibody Honor 6 is fitted with a sharp 5.0-inch full high-definition display, protected by the 3rd generation Corning Gorilla Glass.
Despite the phone’s very modest price, it comes with a 13MP rear-facing camera and the 5MP front-facing camera that runs on the IMAGESmart 2.0 professional image processing engine. The rear-facing camera has refocus, audio, watermark and panoramic modes, and is also capable of taking ultra-fast snapshots. You can easily access the camera directly when the device is locked by pressing the lower volume button twice which gets you to the camera app within 0.6 seconds, so you won’t miss that shot! This is a very useful function that I’ve used many times on the Huawei Ascend P7 that I’m currently reviewing.
Huawei claims that the Honor 6 is theoretically capable of a 300Mbps download speed – currently the fastest in the world for mobile broadband, equivalent to 14 times of 3G. Powering the phone is a larger 3100mAH battery that comes with power saving technology and software that enables savings up to 30% in power usage through intelligent scheduling and arbitrary combination, according to CPU load.
You can pre-order the Honor 6 from 29 September to 14 October 2014. The phone will be in stock in http://www.Vmall.my and Lelong from 16th October, and comes with the recommended retail price of RM999.00
The Honor 6 is available in two (2) colours – white and black.

Honor also launched an 8-inch tablet with 3G phone function called the Honor Tablet. The tablet is powered by the Qualcomm snapdragon Quad-Core processor, with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, and has a 1280 x 800 HD Full-Angle-View IPS Screen with a 72% screen-to-body ratio. The device supports high-quality voice calls and is capable of running high-speed 3G data up to 42Mbps (dependant on the network of course). A 4800mAh battery allows ten hours of video and gaming or 20 hours of music.
The Honor Tablet will be available for pre-order from 29 September and has a recommended retail price of RM599.00
